💕 Romance👱🏽‍♀️ Teenagers💔 Rejected Mate🐺 Werewolves & Shifters👩‍❤️‍👨 True Mate💘 Fated Mates💪🏻 Protector🧙‍♂️ Paranormal & Fantasy🧙‍♀️ Witches & Wizards🧛🏻 Paranormal

At seventeen, Skara hides behind the label of a weak Omega, enduring daily taunts and bruises at a wolf school ruled by the Alpha’s son. But Skara isn’t who they think she is. Beneath the quiet, the bruises, and the lowered gaze, power hums—ancient, dangerous, and beautifully hers. Forced to stay invisible to survive, she must mask the truth of what she really is: a rare hybrid with magic in her blood and a destiny that refuses to stay buried. When tempers flare and secrets start to crack, one look from the wrong pair of green eyes might ignite everything she’s tried so hard to hide.

Chapter 1

SKARA

“You brought this on yourself,” Bunny’s voice thundered as she punched me.
I hated it, but I had no choice. I had to restrain myself, like I’d promised my father.
I was already on the ground, bleeding from my nose, while her pack members and their alpha laughed at me. To them, I was nothing but entertainment.
They were all scum and monsters who exploited their status and their alpha’s permission to constantly bully me. I wanted to fight back so badly it hurt.
“Bunny, I think that’s enough for now,” Alpha Keno said to the bitch who kept punching me without hesitation. The glee on her face made my stomach turn.
His voice sent a slight tingle through my stomach, something I’d never understood before. Something that made me suspect things I didn’t want to think about.
Bunny looked like an angel on the outside, all blonde hair and perfect features. But inside, she was pure horror.
She kicked me in the ribs one more time before finally letting go. Then she walked away like nothing had happened.
I lay on the grass in the schoolyard behind the gym for a while. My wolf Rixa seethed with rage inside me, and she had to restrain herself, too, which was killing both of us.
Oh God, what had I done to deserve this?
Bunny had tripped me earlier, causing me to fall flat on my face. As arrogant as she was, she’d ordered me to apologize, but I hadn’t. So she and her pack had dragged me behind the gym, and she had beaten the hell out of me.
I wiped the blood from my nose and slowly sat up. My last class was over anyway, so I might as well go home.
I walked to my bike and set off toward the outskirts of town. I’d grown up with my aunt and uncle for safety reasons and only saw my father once a year—on my birthday.
Uncle Reggie was a wolf, and Aunt Liliane was a witch, just like my mother had been before she died giving birth to me. They’d both raised me like their own child and given me everything I could ever need.
When I entered our house, I was surprised to hear noises coming from the kitchen. No one was supposed to be home yet.
A moment later, my aunt’s head popped out, but her smile quickly turned to horror. “What happened, my little darling? Don’t tell me it was Alpha Keno and his gang again.”
“You know?” I asked, my eyes wide with shock. Until now, I’d been able to completely hide any injuries from her and Uncle Reggie.
She approached me, studying my face closely. “Even though you tried to hide it and your wounds heal very quickly, I know you well enough. I’ve noticed it lately, and I even followed you to school once.”
She grabbed a cloth and wiped the blood from my face. “My darling, I think it would be best if we informed your father. He wouldn’t tolerate something like this. He says you should keep a low profile, but that doesn’t mean you have to let them constantly beat you down. I knew moving here wasn’t a good idea, but this is the absolute worst.”
“No, we won’t tell my father anything!” I yelled, panic flooding through me.
I didn’t want to disappoint him. He’d think I was weak for not being able to handle it on my own.
Liliane looked at me, shocked by my outburst. Then her expression turned proud but sad. “Darling, I know you don’t want to involve your father, but we have to do something. This can’t go on.”
Oh, my aunt was truly the best.
I just looked at her for a moment. Liliane had black, shoulder-length hair, brown eyes, and the kind of athletic build that made her look like a model. She was beautiful inside and out.
“It’s only a few weeks until my graduation and my eighteenth birthday,” I said, trying to keep my voice steady. “After that, I’ll finally be gone and can go to my dad and our pack. I’ll manage.”
She smiled at me proudly and pulled me into a hug. I flinched slightly from all the places Bunny had hit and kicked me.
Just then, Uncle Reggie came in. He was supposed to still be at work. “What’s going on? Did something happen?” he asked, his eyes immediately going to my face.
My aunt ended our hug and turned to me. “Get ready, dinner will be ready soon.”
I showered in my bathroom and was amazed to find that all my wounds had already healed. Yes, I healed quickly, but this was a new record.
“You’ll soon be of age, and the closer you get, the stronger you’ll become,” my she-wolf Rixa said. “Your healing will soon take only the blink of an eye.”
I responded with silence. This wasn’t exactly news to me.
I slowly stepped out of the shower and wrapped a towel around myself. In the mirror, I admired my long, brown, slightly wavy hair that fell past my shoulders.
I slowly imagined it drying, which it actually did. With each passing day, my witch powers grew stronger, something I kept strictly to myself.
With a snap of my fingers, I was fully dressed.
I wore tight-fitting dark blue jeans and a top that clung to my waist, accentuating my toned, slender physique. My brown-silver eyes sparkled with joy at the sight of myself, and my inner wolf, Rixa, whistled inwardly.
I knew I couldn’t wear anything like this to school, but in my free time, I indulged in all the beautiful things that emphasized and highlighted my figure. Everyone at school considered me a weak omega, meaning they saw me as the lowest rank in a pack, which was just fine.
But I wasn’t an omega. To conceal my true heritage, my true strength, my aunt placed a very powerful spell on me. Only on my eighteenth birthday would my true strength be unleashed, at which point I could lift my aunt’s spell.
But my father asked me to wait until our meeting to lift it. Funnily enough, my birthday fell exactly on the last day of school, which was supposed to be in two months.
I had already successfully completed my wolf training with my Uncle Reggie. I had defeated him every time recently, and he couldn’t teach me anything more. Only the witch training with my aunt was still going on, and that was only because I was deliberately holding back my magic.
“Skara, dinner’s ready!” my aunt called, and I immediately rushed into the kitchen. I loved food, and my aunt was also the best cook in the world.
When I arrived in the kitchen and sat down, my Uncle Reggie looked at me with a familiar expression and said, “How are you? Liliane told me everything—maybe I should pay the principal a visit.”
I smiled and replied, “I’m fine. Everything’s okay. If you interfere, it’ll only make things worse. It’s only a few more weeks anyway—I can manage.”
My uncle had once been the beta of the current alpha, Rento, at least until he and my aunt had taken me in when I was two. Since they couldn’t have children of their own because my aunt had been seriously injured in a fight, it wasn’t such a far-fetched idea. The alpha had reluctantly accepted his wish to leave the pack.
“All right, but if anything happens, come to me and I’ll sort it out for you!” he finally said. Of course, I wasn’t going to do that, as I didn’t want to put him in danger.
The alpha of the pack that owned this territory was still angry with him. Uncle Reggie had to do the lowest jobs in the pack just so we could stay, which made me feel guilty all the time.
By now, I hated this pack—they were all snobby, arrogant, and thought they were better than everyone else. Well, except for one, Timo.
Timo, who had short black hair, brown eyes, and a very well-trained body for a beta, was the future chosen beta of the alpha’s son. He had never made fun of me or hit me unless ordered to. He would always give me pitying and apologetic looks while I was being tortured, whenever the others weren’t looking.
I could sense that he didn’t approve of what the others were doing to me, but he never helped me. Well, at least it was the weekend, and I didn’t have to see them for a few days.
Plus, we had beautiful summer weather, so I was really looking forward to swimming in the stream. That very stream was on our property, so at least there I had some peace and quiet and didn’t have to fear being beaten or kicked.
Going into town alone, on the other hand, was unthinkable, because Alpha Keno and his followers were always there. If they saw me there, or if another member spotted me, it never took long before they appeared and tormented me.
After eating, I transformed into my white wolf, Rixa, and roamed freely on our secluded property. To my horror, I realized after a while that I had crossed the line. Rixa had been enjoying the run too much, which was why she hadn’t considered it.
The moment I turned around, a very large brown wolf suddenly appeared in front of me and scrutinized me thoroughly. Shit.
I immediately suspected who this wolf belonged to—based on its size, it could only be an alpha. If it had been Alpha Rento, he would have completely ignored me and moved on. Therefore, I knew it could only be Keno.
To my surprise, he didn’t attack me. Instead, he transformed and said, “Beautiful.”
What?! No, that couldn’t be! But Rixa confirmed what I had already suspected earlier that day.
