Prophecy

“We’re going to the lake,” Dominic said.

Blake snorted. “And you’re telling me this because?”

Dominic rolled his eyes. “Because I don’t want you in my pack house when I’m gone. So this is my way of saying, Get the fuck out.”

Blake sighed and walked out of the pack house. Spencer and Kai followed. “We saw the girl go into the woods,” Kai said.

“The girl is called Kiara,” Blake corrected.

“Yes, Alpha,” Kai said and bowed his head.

“I’m surprised you let her go there,” Blake said to Dominic and his beta.

“My gamma is with her. It’s not like I’m letting her go alone,” Dominic said.

“I know your gamma is with her. I was there when you assigned him to her, remember?”

Dominic sighed. “Then what’s the problem?”

“The problem is that the woods are filled with sticks. If she wanted to run and she’s smart, she could easily knock him out and run.”

Dominic laughed. “How dumb do you think my gamma is?”

“Well, knowing you, pretty dumb.”

Dominic stiffened and felt Mike rise under his skin. “Don’t insult me, Blake. You’re in my territory. You’re my guest. Be sure to remember that.”

Blake grinned. “But of course, Silver Pine Woods Alpha Dominic Lupine.”

Dominic clenched his jaw. He hated it when someone used his entire title, especially when it came in a mocking tone from Blake. “Very good, Rogue Alpha Blake Winters.” Blake grimaced at his title.

“Is there going to be a fight, or are we going to the lake?” asked Mira, who had a picnic basket and a blanket in her hand. Behind her came Lia, Jared, Dave, and Cora.

“There’s not going to be a fight. Let’s go,” Dominic said and glared one last time at Blake and walked away.

Kai and Lia exchanged a look before Blake turned around and looked at him with surprise. “Something you want to share?” Blake asked. Kai shook his head.

“What do you think is going on with Kiara?” Spencer asked.

“I don’t know. But I want you to find what you can about Leto,” Blake said. Spencer bowed his head and walked away. Ethan walked toward him.

“Pick up the scent from Kyle, Dominic’s gamma. Follow him. Where he goes, she goes, and I want to know wherever she is,” Blake said. Ethan bowed his head and ran toward the woods.

“Something is happening, isn’t it?” Kai asked.

“Yes, and if my guess is correct…”

“Alpha?” Kai looked at him, worried.

“Let’s just say that I really hope my guess is wrong.” Blake sighed.

~“A—Alpha. I found s—something you need to see.”~ Blake received the mind-link from Spencer. His voice sounded strained and scared.

~“Where are you?”~ he linked back.

~“The pack house library.”~

Blake grinned and shook his head. ~“On my way.”~ Typical for one of his pack members to break a rule set by another alpha. Blake and Kai made their way toward the pack house and saw no guards.

He smirked and walked in. Two wolves were on the couch. It looked like they were sleeping, but he knew that they were knocked out. Pride rose inside him.

He walked toward the library on the ground floor and walked in. He saw Spencer with a pale face looking at a computer screen. Several books littered the desk next to him. He had his hands in his hair.

Kai and Blake shared a look. “Dude, are you okay?” Kai asked him. Spencer looked at Blake, who saw the fear in his eyes. This was not going to be something good. He stopped in front of him.

Spencer ran a hand through his hair, like he was looking for the courage to start talking. “What is it, Spence?”

He took a deep breath. “I—I was looking f—for information about the o—original Wolf Goddess.” His voice was trembling. He closed his eyes and took another deep breath before opening them.

“While I c—couldn’t find something that c—connected her to K—Kiara, I—I stumbled onto another article. One about the prophecy of the pure lycan.” Blake closed his eyes. He knew what was coming.

Because of the loss at the beginning, the female pure lycan will appear.

Cursed to be human until her twentieth harvest moon.

She will be the strongest.

Her senses will be better than any pure lycan and werewolf before her.

She will hold the ability of life and death in her blood.

She will be tormented by the ones she doesn’t know and the ones she does know alike.

Once the mate appears, the curse of the end of the race she holds in her blood will begin.

The prophecy talked about two curses that the female pure lycan carried. Prophecies normally talked about one thing, but this one was different, and it marked the end of the werewolf race.

Every werewolf was terrified about it. Many packs had searched for the pure lycan who was alive in their time, but no one had ever found one since the Moon Goddess had given them a wolf body.

“You can’t be serious! Kai exclaimed. “You can’t seriously think that she’s the pure lycan.”

Spencer stood up.

“Kiara is twenty, and next week is the harvest moon. She hears a voice that can control her, and all of a sudden, she was vulnerable to silver and wolfsbane. This can’t be a coincidence,” Spencer said.

“Blake?” Kai looked at him with pleading eyes, as if he was begging him to say that it wasn’t possible.

“I don’t know if she’s the pure lycan, but I already had a guess that she may have something to do with this.” Kai and Spencer looked at him with fear.

“Why did you think that?” Spencer asked.

Blake ran a hand through his hair. “Because of all the things you listed.” He sighed. “There are so many questions that I’m not sure what to think about her.” It was quiet between them.

“Alpha,” Ethan said through the mind-link.

“What is it?”

“The same thing that happened with you and Alpha Dominic happened with another wolf. She knew his name without asking it.”

“I’m coming.”

Kai and Spencer bowed their heads, and Blake ran out of the library. It wasn’t hard to find Ethan’s scent. He ran into the forest, and his thoughts were trying to make sense of everything.

Could she be the pure lycan?

It would explain a lot, but there was so much that they didn’t know. The prophecy said that she would be tormented by the ones she did and didn’t know. Was that what the voice was?

A tormentor she didn’t know?

So many questions ran through his head. He needed to find out what was happening with her. He still felt the effect she had on him. Was that also because she could be the pure lycan?

He shook the thought out of his head. He walked toward a waterfall and saw a group standing together. A wolf turned back to human, and Kiara immediately turned around to face Dominic.

A strange feeling ran through Blake’s body, but he ignored it. He went closer. “What’s going on?” he asked. A scent filled his nose. It was a scent of roses and firewood.

It was a strange combination, but it was mesmerizing. He looked at Kiara, who had her hands on her ears. Why were her hands on her ears?

He hadn’t screamed, had he?

His eyes changed, and he inhaled. “What the fuck?” he said. He looked at Dominic, who met his gaze. His eyes were also changed. That meant he noticed it too. He nodded a little.

Kiara turned her head and locked eyes with Dominic. What was happening?

How could she all of a sudden have a scent?

Before he could ask something, she started looking around. The she-wolf who was standing in front of her grabbed her wrists and removed them from her ears. “Kiara, what’s happening?” she asked.

Kiara didn’t answer and kept looking around.

The voice.

It must be the voice that caught her attention.

Her eyes stopped at the water, and she started walking toward it. She was oblivious to the she-wolf, who was trying to get her attention. “Kiara, what are you doing!?”

They all watched her stop in front of the water and saw that she was going to take another step. The she-wolf grabbed her and pulled her back. Kiara fell on her back.

The scent was gone as soon as she hit the ground. Her fear was readable on her face. Two of the she-wolves crouched down next to her. Dominic shared a look with Blake before they looked at Kiara.

“What just happened?” Dominic asked her.

Blake saw a tear roll down her cheek. She locked eyes with Dominic. Blake felt the strange feeling again. What was that?

“T—the voice.” He was right. It controlled her again. “It was back.”

The other oblivious wolves asked a question, but Dominic didn’t want to get into it. “I’ll explain later. What did it say?”

“It called me Leto and said that I was hurt and that he would find me. That I couldn’t hide.”

She will be tormented by the ones she doesn’t know and the ones she does know alike.

The prophecy repeated in his head. Could it be?

“Leto as in the original Wolf Goddess?” one of the wolves asked.

“Yeah,” Blake said. Kiara turned her head, and their eyes met. “What I want to know is why all of a sudden you had a scent.” He saw her eyes widen.

She quickly stood up. “I had a scent?” He nodded. There must be an explanation for that. “Wait—had?”

“As soon as you landed on the ground, your scent disappeared,” Cora said. She had been attacked by her own son, but still she was here having a picnic with him…

And they said that his pack was crazy…

“Did something else happen to you?” the beta asked.

“As soon as I turned to you, all my senses were all of a sudden heightened,” Kiara said.

Fuck…

“That’s when your scent appeared,” the gamma said.

Blake and Dominic shared a look again, and he knew he was going to have to talk to him about what he’d found out. “Do you still have them?”

She shook her head. “As soon as I landed on the ground, they disappeared.” They were all quiet. She asked Dominic, “What’s happening to me?”

You’re probably the cursed female pure lycan who is going to kill us all.

He thought it was stuck in his head.

Please let me be wrong…
