Her Possessive Guard

E. R. Knight

Cycle of Desire

Kara watched the back of the head of her classmate, her eyes unfocused and almost glazed.

She was aware of the professor explaining an important concept, and she knew that she should be listening.

But her mind had chosen every other second of the past three days to replay again and again everything that had happened with Adam.

Her skin broke into gooseflesh each time she thought about it.

Every single time that she remembered the touch of his hands on her body. The taste of his lips on hers. The delicious hot feel of his cock in her palm.

Her cheeks flushed, and to her horror, she felt a tug in her lower belly.

Kara squirmed in her seat, giving her head a little shake and sternly ordering her brain to stop with the shit that was making her want to rub her thighs together.

She straightened her book and stiffened her spine, tuning in to what the professor was speaking and beginning to take notes. She couldn’t afford to be distracted and end up getting a low grade.

Looking up, she stared at the professor who had now turned his back to the class and was writing on the whiteboard. He was wearing a blue shirt that was the exact same color as Adam’s eyes.

Stop!

Thinking of Adam and then berating herself was now a vicious cycle that she feared would not end anytime soon. She sighed. This was getting to be a bother. Both physically and mentally.

The physical side she could handle. Sexual frustration wasn’t very new to her. But it was the latter that she was worried about.

She had successfully kept out of Adam’s way for the past few days. But it wasn’t going to work much longer.

He had stared at her heatedly a few times when she had caught his eye. But Kara had made sure that Megan was always in the room with them.

She held her head in her hands. She didn’t know what to do.

Were they going to start up something? What was it exactly that had happened that day? Why had he come on to her like that?

She wasn’t going to say that she didn’t like it. She had to be honest with herself at least.

She had fucking loved it. Every single touch, every single feeling.

But the terrible part was, she was embarrassed. Embarrassed and probably a little humiliated about the horny side she had so easily displayed in front of Adam.

She had humped his leg and gotten off! How could she have let her body get out of control like that?

And what must he think of her?

That she hadn’t had an orgasm in so long that the feel of his firm, strong thigh had made her want to rub herself right against it till she exploded with ecstasy in mere seconds?

Her face felt like it was on fire. She could still see the way he had looked when he had tasted her with his thumb. Sweet Lord. That had been the hottest and the most embarrassing moment in her life.

She had been cursing him merely three or four days ago, and then she was feeling him up and letting him do the same to her!

He must think her crazy. And right then, she was pretty sure she was.

When classes were done, she left immediately, choosing not to hang out with her classmates that evening.

Megan had texted her saying she’d be cooking dinner that night, and Kara had promised she’d help her out. Even though it meant being in the same room as Adam again.

And her body was already craving another of those delicious orgasms that he was capable of delivering.

***

Kara slipped her key in the lock and opened the door, and the first thing she saw was the perfectly shaped, firmly muscled ass covered in sweats, up in the air.

She halted right there on the threshold, her hand on the doorknob.

She must have made a noise because, to her disappointment, the figure straightened up and turned. Her heart jumped in her throat when she saw Adam staring at her, a slight smirk on his face.

“Like what you see, Your Majesty?”

She frowned at his choice of words. What happened to the little raven?

She preferred the second one. When the smirk didn’t lift, she sighed and shut the door, taking her backpack off.

He was wearing a simple T-shirt and was most likely working out.

Right there.

In their living room.

Kara dropped her keys on the kitchen island and looked around. Unopened packages of Chinese food lay in a heap. She was surprised. Megan was supposed to cook. Where the heck was she?

“So, you’ve finally decided to grace me with your presence.”

She turned and looked as he walked toward her. The smirk had vanished from his face, and she was taken aback at the hard look in his eyes.

“Where’s Megan?”

She hated the slight quiver in her voice.

He halted a few feet away from her and said in a clipped tone.

“She’s meeting with her girlfriend. She wanted me to tell you that she’s sorry and that she won’t be able to make it for dinner.”

“What? We were supposed to cook together tonight.”

When he didn’t respond to her question, she took a step back and began to unpack the food.

Anything to keep her hands busy so they wouldn’t start shaking with all the nerves that were making her stomach queasy.

“Did she get this for us?”

“Yeah.”

“Did you eat anything?”

“No.”

“When did you get back to the apartment?”

“Six.”

“So, when did Megan leave?”

“Look at me.”

“I can’t believe she ditched us—”

“Look at me, Kara.”

Her knees went weak.

Taking a deep breath to try to fortify herself, she turned to him.

The hardness had disappeared and was replaced by something she couldn’t identify or put her finger on. Did he look curious? Or amused? Or was he simply pissed and was covering it up well?

To her relief, he didn’t invade her personal space and kept his distance.

“You’ve been avoiding me,” he stated bluntly.

She opened her mouth to protest but shut it when he took one step forward.

“Don’t bother denying it, all right?”

Kara shrank slightly and looked away.

“Do you care to tell me why?”

She looked back at him incredulously. He didn’t already know? She knew her voice contained her disbelief.

“How can you pretend not to know why?”

His expression didn’t change.

“I’m not pretending. I want to hear you say it.”

A slow blush spread across her cheeks. “You know it’s because of what happened that morning.”

Something flickered in his eyes, but he didn’t speak. Kara pulled nervously at a stray thread near the hem of her shirt.

“I-I didn’t know how to behave around you after that.” The heat in her face had definitely turned her skin bright red and there wasn’t a single thing that she could do about it.

His stare was beginning to make her even more nervous and if she didn’t manage to stop the rapid beat of her heart, she was going to have a panic attack.

“I want to do that again.”

With those six words, Kara’s heart stopped beating altogether. She looked at him, her eyes as wide as saucers. The silence rang in her ears.

They both stared at each other for a long moment.

“What?” she asked in a whisper, almost afraid that she was dreaming it all up.

His ice-blue eyes were suddenly hungry, and he gave her a heated look, the faded bruises on his skin making him look both dangerous and appealing at the same time.

She wanted to run her fingers along his jaw and then replace them with her lips or maybe just her tongue.

Adam stood where he was, but he might as well have been pressed to her with the way her body was reacting. Her bra felt too stifling, and her mouth was dry.

He wanted to repeat that?

“Because you’re the sexiest woman I’ve ever had the pleasure of tasting… and I don’t want to stop.”

His voice was low, and Kara almost sank to the floor when his eyes dropped to the junction of her thighs, slowly trailing up and then settling on her chest.

Her hand went behind her to steady herself against the island. Her mouth opened but no words came out.

Adam kept staring at her, like at any second now, he was going to pounce right on her, and fuck her right there in the kitchen.

She almost hoped he would. That he’d grab her and put his hands on her. That he’d kiss her, with his tongue this time, and take the choice away from her.

Because while her body was screaming at her to throw caution to the winds and rush right into his arms, her mind and heart refused to believe that anything good could come out of this.

“You couldn’t…w-we can’t—” her voice lacked strength.

Adam covered the distance between them in quick steps, his hands going on either side of her hips and caging her in. “Give me one good reason why we can’t.”

Kara had to lean back to look up at him.

But when she began to answer, he continued. “And don’t tell me it’s because you’re waiting for the right guy and I’m not him.”

Kara shook her head. “You’re not hi—”

His head dropped down, and he covered her mouth in a hard kiss.

Taken by surprise, Kara grabbed his arms to steady herself. It seemed to encourage him.

Adam’s hands slid down her waist, cupping her ass briefly before moving along the back of her thighs and lifting her up and hooking them around his hips.

Kara pulled back and turned her face, her arms going around his neck, scared to death that he was going to drop her.

But Adam had her securely in his arms and to her surprise, he didn’t look out of breath at all.

“Did you really think I was going to let you fall?” he growled in her ear, his breath fanning her cheek.

Her grip on him tightened and she felt his chest vibrate in a low chuckle. “I’m almost hurt by your lack of trust in me,” he murmured, his eyes roaming over her face and lingering on her lips.

Kara tried to speak and tell him off but seeing his mouth just inches away from her own was making her pulse go crazy.

Involuntarily, she tightened her hold on his waist and gasped out loud when she felt his erection against her belly.

Adam groaned low in his throat when she shifted again. “You’re fucking killing me.”

Kara stared at him, aware of his hands cupping her butt, his fingers clenching lightly. He smelled like a mixture of sweat and cologne.

Without any conscious thought, she slipped her fingers through the hair at the back of his neck, feeling the texture, itching to feel more of him.

She leaned forward, intending to kiss him, her breath coming fast with the expectation of having his tongue in her mouth.

Just when her lips were about to touch his, there was a loud knock on the door.

Kara jumped back, her fingers slipping out of his hair and landing on his shoulders.

“Ignore it,” Adam growled, already leaning in to continue where she had left off.

But Kara stopped him. “No, that might be Megan.” She panicked and pushed him away, loosening her hold on his lower body and sliding down to the ground.

Adam cursed in her ear, his face in her hair.

He stalked over to the door but paused before opening it.

Kara blushed when she saw why. He was adjusting the front of his pants.

Then he pulled the door open.

Kara turned back and straightened her shirt, one hand making sure her hair was in place.

Adam’s voice was angry when he called out to her.

“There’s someone here to see you.”

Kara put the bags back on the island and went to where he stood. Her stomach lurched when she saw who it was.

“Max?”
