As the years passed by, I had seen Travis with different girls. Against my better judgment, I was still hung up on him. Could you blame me?
With that muscular, tattooed body and eyes that could make you forget yourself, he was truly everything I had ever wanted in a man. Well, except for the fact that he was a womanizer.
I had never told anyone about the attraction I felt toward him as it was nobody’s business to know. However, whenever I saw other girls in his arms, I became a little jealous.
After the rehearsal dinner, Lauren, Jamie, and I kidnapped the future bride-to-be, Kristen, and went to a club. We wanted to celebrate her last night before she became Mrs. Will Harrison.
As much as I wanted to have some fun with the girls, my mind kept traveling toward Travis.
“Tequila shot for every girl in this tale,” Lauren shouted to the waitress.
“Coming right up.” The waitress left after taking our orders.
“So, tell me, Kristen.” I smiled at her. “Are you nervous about tomorrow?”
Kristen shook her head. “Not even the slightest. I love him, and I don’t see myself with anyone else.”
“You are lucky,” I said. “Will’s so hot.”
Jamie made a face. “Ew. He’s my brother. Can we not talk about how hot he is, please?”
“You know who else is sexy?” Lauren said dreamingly. “Finn! I mean, did you see that body? I won’t mind sleeping with him.”
“Here you go, girls.” The waitress returned with our drinks.
“Another one, please!” Jamie shouted.
Kristen put her hand on Jamie’s shoulder, looking at her worriedly. “Slow down, you’re not used to hard liquor.”
Kristen was right. Jamie was barely twenty years old.
“Girls, it’s decided. I’m going to seduce Finn and try to sleep with him,” Lauren said excitedly.
I smiled at her. I wanted to tease her, and I knew how to do it. “Not if I get him first.”
“Sorry to disappoint you girls, but Finn made a promise to Will to not sleep with either of you.” Kristen innocently shrugged.
Lauren and I gasped simultaneously.
Jamie hit the table with the palm of her hand. “Enough about boys and sleeping around. We came here tonight to celebrate the last night of Kristen’s freedom.”
I lifted my glass and shouted, “I’ll cheer for that!”
“Hear, hear,” Lauren added.
Kristen shook her head, smiling at us. “Girls, you know, I love you all and I thank you for tonight. That being said, I don’t think I can stay for long. Tomorrow is my big day.”
We had a few more drinks before we decided to go dancing.
I was surprised when I saw Jamie dancing with a random guy at the bar. I thought she would have pushed him away by now, but instead, she circled her arms around his neck.
At this moment, the boys joined us. Will didn’t waste any time and went dancing with his fiancée. However, Finn didn’t seem happy when he saw Jamie dancing with the same guy from earlier.
And, of course, Travis also came with them.
He licked his lips, winking at me. I felt my cheeks heat up as I turned my attention elsewhere. It had been like this for us since the first time we met. A glimpse here and there, but nothing more.
After Will and Kristen left, I saw Finn about to leave with Jamie. I found myself asking Finn to dance with me.
“Don’t listen to her. Pick me! Pick me!” Lauren said enthusiastically.
Finn smiled. “Sorry, girls, I have to take care of Jamie.” He took Jamie’s hand and walked away. On their way out, Jamie turned her head and smiled at us as if she was saying that she had won this round.
Lauren wasn’t happy. “I’m going back to the hotel. Are you ready to leave?”
I bit my lip. “No. I think I’m going to stay a little while.”
“Okay, see you tomorrow,” she said before she left. She appeared disappointed, probably because of the way the night had ended for her.
“Hey, sugar.” A guy popped in front of me out of nowhere. I realized it was the same dude who had been dancing with Jamie earlier.
“What’s your name, doll face?” he asked.
I took a deep breath and, against my better judgment, answered, “Juliet.”
He invaded my personal space, leaning his head beside my ear. “My name is Luc. Do you want me to be the Romeo to your Juliet?”
Where did he get his pick-up line from? It was such a cliché.
Maybe it was because of Travis. Maybe it was because of the alcohol. Or maybe it was because I hadn’t felt the desire for so long, but I found myself initiating a kiss with Luc.
To my disappointment, he knew how to kiss.
If the kiss were horrible, it would have been a good reason to push him away. Instead, I kissed him further.
The last boyfriend I had was years ago. It was way before I met Travis. He had only been with me so he could bang me. Those were his precise words before he broke up with me.
Maybe that was the reason I didn’t go for a guy like Travis because, in the end, I was scared to be treated the same way. I knew he would dump me for another.
After the kiss, I scanned the room to find Travis. I was disappointed when he wasn’t anywhere to be seen. The girl he had been dancing with had vanished as well.
I guess Travis had made his decision.
“So, my place, or yours?” Luc interrupted my thoughts.
“My place.”
