The next few weeks were weird. Shay hadn’t spoken to me at all, but he would always be waiting for me by the entrance. And every time I was near him, I felt the mark.
The feeling from the first time was growing stronger every day.
He would be surrounded by different people, but always that brown-haired boy. I was no longer in doubt that he was Shay’s Beta.
But today was different. Today, Shay was surrounded by girls. I could smell it even before I entered the doors. I knew that this was probably just going to be another trick of his.
Shay could tease me as much as he wanted, but I was not going to let it get to me.
“Are you all right?” Everly asked and placed a hand on my shoulder. I had stopped walking without realizing it, and I was blocking the stairs.
“Yeah, sorry, I just got lost in my mind.” I smiled and continued walking. I lied.
My heart was racing, and the mark was throbbing like crazy. I forced myself to continue even though my mind was telling me to run the other way.
I had been right about the girls. He was surrounded by them. Lots of them, and they were all over him. Touching him, feeling him…
What the hell was wrong with me? Why did it bother me?
I gathered my thoughts and reminded myself that I was the one in control. I was an Alpha too.
My plan was to walk past them and act like I didn’t care. To rub it in his face. I wasn’t even going to look at them.
And then it happened. Shay’s scent hit me like a hurricane the second I passed them. The mark was pulsating like it usually did, but this time, it wasn’t just the mark.
The sensation went through my body like lightning from the sky.
A moan escaped my lips as the pulsation reached between my legs, and I fell to my knees.
“Rieka! What’s happening?” Everly asked, just as confused as me. I couldn’t speak, so I touched the mark covered by my scarves, and she understood right away.
I was sweating and panting. I was using everything in my power to keep the feeling suppressed. “Let’s go, Rieka,” she whispered.
She helped me onto my feet, and I saw how every eye in the hall was watching me. He was watching me.
I couldn’t stop myself. I turned my head, and he was just standing there. Leaning against the wall… And he was smiling. He knew exactly what was going on, and he was enjoying it.
My legs were shaking, and Everly could barely keep me standing. “Is it bad, Rieka?”
I nodded, afraid of saying anything, fearing that it might sound like another moan.
“This is going to be harder on you than I thought,” she whispered. “I mean, it’s only the beginning of February.”
What did she mean by that? Wasn’t this normal for a wolf’s first season?
She helped me into the girl’s bathroom and to one of the toilets so I could sit down.
“What… What did you mean?” I stuttered. “That it was going to be harder than you thought.”
“Most wolves first feel the connection around March,” she explained. “It’s quite early for you to feel like this already.”
This thing was going to get stronger? I could hardly keep it together now. And how did Shay remain so calm?
The bell rang. “Are you going to be all right on your own, Rieka? I can’t miss another class.”
“Sure.” I panted. She nodded and hurried out.
I rested my head against the cold wall. This was unbearable, and Shay wasn’t even nearby.
The throbbing between my legs was beginning to become too much... I needed to do something about it.
I checked to make sure that there was no one else in the bathroom with me.
I adjusted myself and unbuttoned my pants. My panties were already soaking wet, but when I slipped my fingers down to release myself, my body exploded with pleasure.
It didn’t take long before I was on the edge of reaching my climax.
My fingers circled faster and faster. I was so close, and then the door was busted in.
“I can smell your arousal from miles away, Cooper.”
It was Shay.
My body hated me for it, but I pulled up my hand and reached for the door. Shay was faster and ripped it open before I could even get a chance.
I backed up as far as I could into the furthest corner of the stall.
“Keep away from me, Shay!” I panted.
He smirked. “Why would I keep away when I could help you? Make you feel better than you have ever felt before. I can see that you want to,” he teased and looked down at my unzipped pants.
He stepped closer. “I mean it, Shay!”
The mark started throbbing again, and he was so close that I could feel the heat radiating from his body.
“I know that you want this,” he whispered into my ear. “Your body is begging me for it.” I put my hands on his muscular chest to stop him from coming any closer.
He grabbed my hand and put it up to his nose. It was the hand I had been using to please myself, but he breathed the scent, and it seemed to arouse him.
“Just give in,” he whispered again.
I had avoided eye contact ever since he entered the stall, but his words made me look up. His eyes were almost on fire. Glowing like his wolf’s.
The second I looked at him, he growled and released his untamed beast. He grabbed my ass and pinned me to the wall.
He ripped off my scarf and buried his face into my neck. The feeling of his lips on the mark made me lose my mind. I moaned loudly and entangled my fingers in his hair.
I could feel his erect manhood grinding against my sex, sending a new wave of desire through my body with every thrust.
I wanted him to continue... I wanted him so badly, but I couldn’t let myself do this to Archer. I couldn’t let my body be in control.
“No!” I bellowed and tried pushing him away. My body was weak, and he wouldn’t budge. I was panting and straining myself to keep my body under control.
“Shay... Please... Stop...” I whispered.
He slowly moved away from my neck and ran his lips along my jawline. He had pinned my hands to the wall after my previous attempt to push him away. I was helpless.
He stopped by my ear and lightly pinched my earlobe between his teeth. It made me moan again.
“I will do as you ask for now... To show you that I can be nice if asked politely, but this was just a taste of what is to come. And you better be ready soon,” he whispered.
I could hear him panting as if he was trying to restrain himself.
“'Cause I soon won’t be able to hold myself back.”
He made eye contact one more time before he let me go and disappeared out of the door with my scarf in his hand.
I let myself collapse onto the floor. My mind was hazy, and my thoughts were colliding in my head.
Was this really only the beginning? What the hell would happen as we came closer to spring?
And what about tomorrow? Tomorrow, I was to meet the rest of Archer’s family. I had to meet the founder of the Hunters himself.
How could I do that after what had just happened? I had to tell Archer, didn’t I?
