Chapter 6: Stupid Feelings

“Thank you,” I whispered, looking at him.

“For what?” he asked, furrowing his eyebrows and turning to look at me.

We had just finished dinner, and Gio and I were in his room with him on his bed and me sitting at his desk.

“For taking care of me. Nobody—nobody’s done that for me in a really long time,” I said, smiling weakly.

He stared at me intently and nodded. “You’re welcome. If you want, I can take you home,” he said, sitting up to look at me.

I bit my lip and considered it. “I-I don’t want to intrude, so yes please,” I said softly.

“You are not intruding, and after what you saw, I think I’d prefer it if you stayed the night,” he said, leaving me baffled.

“Then why ask?” I asked as I watched him walk into his closet.

“I wanted to let you have a choice,” he said, handing me one of his shirts and sweatpants.

I bit my lip and nodded before walking into the bathroom. I chuckled as I looked at myself in the mirror. His clothes looked like they were trying to eat me.

His shirt went up to my knees, and his sweatpants kept falling even when I rolled the top. I pulled the sweatpants off and stepped out of the bathroom shyly.

He watched as I walked out of the bathroom. He slowly looked me up and down, keeping his gaze on my legs for a minute before his eyes snapped up to mine.

“The sweatpants were too big,” I mumbled, holding my hand out to give him back the sweatpants.

He slowly nodded and took them from me before putting them back in his closet. He walked back out and stared at me curiously.

“Are you just going to stand there?” he asked with a smile. My breath hitched at the sight, and before I could stop myself, I was standing in front of him, tracing his lips.

“You should smile more,” I whispered. I slowly looked up into his eyes to see he was staring at me wide-eyed.

“Never had a reason to before,” he admitted, rubbing the back of his neck.

I nodded, and my gaze went back to his lips. He gently put his hands on my hips and pulled me closer to him before he started to lean in.

I wanted to push him away and just go to bed, but of course, life was never that simple. I shivered in delight as our lips met, and they moved perfectly in sync with each other.

My eyes widened at the thought of Malibu Barbie, and I broke away from the kiss, backing away from him. He looked hurt but quickly masked it.

“Shit, shit, shit,” I mumbled under my breath, running a hand through my hair as I paced in front of him.

“What?” he asked, making me stop.

“Your girlfriend,” I spat. I groaned—not just because of how jealous I sounded but how stupid I felt. He was probably just using me, especially since his girlfriend wasn’t here.

“She isn’t my girlfriend,” he said through clenched teeth.

“Then what is she to you, ‘cause you took me on a date, and the next day you were locking lips with her. Or maybe it just wasn’t a date and I shouldn’t have assumed things,” I mumbled.

“That’s what you think?” he asked slowly.

I looked up into his eyes and could only see two emotions: anger and hurt. I bit my lip again and looked down.

“I don’t know what to think,” I whispered, chewing on my lip.

“Whatever,” he said with a scoff.

I sighed and slowly walked toward the bed before lying down.

“Why are you leaving?” I asked as he grabbed a pillow and started to head toward the door.

“Why do you care?” he countered.

I bit my lip and played with my fingers.

“Please don’t leave,” I whimpered. I cringed at how needy I sounded and slowly looked up to see him standing in the doorway.

“Fine,” he groaned. He threw the pillow on the floor and I stared at him wide-eyed.

“You can sleep on the bed, you know,” I said softly.

“I’d rather sleep on the floor,” he responded from the ground.

“I think I’d prefer it if you stayed in your bed with me,” I said, folding my hands in my lap.

“Why ask?” he asked, standing up with a smirk, knowing where this was going.

“I wanted to let you have a choice,” I said with a grin and shrugged as I quoted him. He smiled, shaking his head, and lay down beside me.

“Good night, feisty,” he whispered, closing his eyes.

“Good night, icy,” I said, referring to his eyes.

He smiled, catching on, and I closed my eyes, slowly drifting off to sleep.

“Aww, look at them.”

I heard a click and a flash go off but kept my eyes closed. I moaned and snuggled into my pillow. I heard another click and slowly opened my eyes.

My head was on Gio’s chest, our feet were tangled together, and his arms were securely wrapped around my waist.

“Gio,” I said softly. His parents were in the doorway with a cell phone and camera aimed at us. He grunted and tightened his hold on me.

His mother squealed and quickly took a picture. Gio’s eyes popped open, and he tried to move away, but since we were tangled together, he fell on the floor, taking me with him.

He groaned and put his hands on my hips. I heard another click before the door closed.

“I’m so sorry,” I apologized, trying to get up. His hold on me tightened, keeping me on top of him.

“Don’t move,” he groaned. I nodded my head and slowly put my head back on his chest. He tensed for a second but quickly relaxed.

“Thank you,” I said, picking my head up and looking into his eyes.

He slowly opened his eyes and nodded.

We stared into each other’s eyes, and I hadn’t realized we were leaning in until our lips met. He sat up without breaking the kiss, and I ran my fingers through his hair.

I heard another click and tensed.

“And post. Breakfast is ready,” his mom said before leaving the room again. I pulled away from him and bit my swollen lip.

“We have to stop doing that,” I whispered, tracing my lips.

“Why?” he asked, looking at me.

“Because you have a girlfriend,” I whined.

He leaned against his bed and chuckled humorlessly. “I keep telling you, she’s not my girlfriend,” he growled, running a hand through his hair.

“I’m sorry,” I whispered.

“Whatever. There’s a toothbrush in the bathroom for you,” he said, walking into his closet.

I bit my lip and walked into his bathroom before brushing my teeth. I stepped out and he went in, closing the door behind him.

I bit my lip and walked to the bed to see he left out clothes for me. It was one of his shirts and a pair of jeans that couldn’t have been his.

I took off the shirt I was wearing and froze as the bathroom door opened.

I bit my lip and slowly turned around to see him slowly looking me up and down, stopping at my breasts before his eyes met mine. He took a shaky breath and slowly walked up to me.

“Why are you wearing lace?” he asked slowly, licking his lips.

“I-I like it,” I said, watching his tongue’s movement. I looked back up into his eyes to see he was looking at my lips.

I groaned as I gave in to my need and wrapped my arms around his neck, letting our lips meet again. He smiled against my lips as he leaned forward, gently putting me down on the bed.

He slowly dragged his hand down, stopping at my panties. He licked my lip, asking for entrance, which I denied. He groaned, making me smile.

He slowly pulled my panties to the side before sticking a finger inside of me. I gasped, and he used that to his advantage, sticking his tongue in my mouth.

I moaned in his mouth as he slowly kept sliding his finger in and out and slowly rubbed my clit.

“Guys, your breakfast is going to get cold,” I heard Gio’s mom say from the other side of the door.

“Coming,” Gio yelled back as we pulled away from each other.

My face burned, and I knew it was red as I quickly pulled the clothes on. He walked out, and I silently followed behind him.

I sat down at the table, keeping my eyes on my food as I slowly began to eat. I slowly picked my head up to see everybody staring at me.

“You’re as red as a tomato, sweetie. Are you okay?” his mom asked me with a concerned look.

I quickly nodded my head and bit my lip as Gio tried to hold back a laugh.

“GIO!” I heard a voice scream. I watched as a little girl ran up to Giovanni before jumping in his arms. The maid took our plates away, and I quietly thanked her.

The little girl looked like an exact copy of Gio, except her hair was brown. She smiled at me, and I smiled back, slightly waving.

“Is that your girlfriend? She’s very pretty,” his sister said, looking at Gio.

I bit my lip and shook my head. “I’m not his girlfriend. But thank you. You’re very pretty too,” I said softly.

She smiled and made Gio put her down before running up to me and sitting on my lap. She smiled and gently put her head on my chest.

I wrapped my arms around her and looked up to see everybody smiling at me.

“Gio,” I heard another voice say. I froze as I recognized it as Malibu Barbie’s.

I looked back down at the little girl in my arms, hoping that the floor would open up and eat me, or that I’d disappear.

“What are you doing here?” I heard Gio ask. I could hear the anger and strain in his voice.

“I—what is she doing here?” she asked, and I could feel her gaze on me.

I slowly looked up at her face, and Gio’s sister tightened her hold on me. I rubbed soothing circles on her back as I kept my eyes on Barbie.

“You ruined my car,” I said calmly.

She smirked and crossed her arms over her chest. “And?” she asked, taunting me.

I started shaking my leg, making Gio’s little sister bounce on my lap. She giggled and started making noises.

“Do you know how I got that car?” I asked softly while trying to keep in my anger.

Gio reached for his sister, but she squirmed away from him, trying to stay in my arms.

“Something about a brother, but then again, I truly don’t care,” Barbie said, looking at her nails.

I slowly stood up and walked toward her. I watched as fear started to cloud her eyes and she flinched like she was afraid I’d hit her.

“Can we go watch a movie?” Gio’s sister asked softly. I looked down at her and calmed down a little.

“Every time you see this little girl, you’d better worship her, because if it weren’t for her . . .” I cut myself off and shook my head.

“Whatever,” Barbie said, trying to act cool, but the fear was still evident in her eyes.

“And if you have a problem with me being here, you should really tell your boyfriend to keep his mouth and hands to himself,” I whispered in her ear with a smirk.

I started to walk away but stopped as she started screaming at Gio.

I turned around to see him and his parents staring at me with pride dancing in their eyes, but I kept my eyes on Gio, feeling slightly proud of myself.

I shrugged at him before turning back around and letting Gio’s sister guide me to the living room. I set up a fort while she picked out a movie.

“Done,” we said at the same time. We giggled while climbing into the fort and started watching the movie.

I looked down to see Gio’s sister’s head on my lap and her eyes closed as her breathing evened out.

I softly kissed her forehead and moved her to the side, gently resting her head on a pillow and covering her up with a blanket.

I sat back down and went back to watching The Lion King just as Gio crawled in.

“Thanks for taking care of my sister,” he said, looking over at her.

I shrugged and ran a hand through my hair. “She’s a sweetheart,” I mumbled, keeping my eyes on the TV.

Gio gently placed his hand on my cheek, turning my head to face him. I bit my lip nervously as our eyes met.

“I really want to kiss you without you pulling away or us being interrupted,” he said, moving closer.

My breath hitched in my throat and my eyes started to get droopy as they dropped down to his lips.

“I-I can’t,” I said, pulling away just as he leaned in. I watched as hurt flashed through his face before anger took over.

“Whatever,” he mumbled angrily. I reached for his hand, but he pulled it away and began to leave the fort.

“Where are you going?” I asked softly, making him stop.

I watched as he turned back to look at me with cold eyes, and I bit my lip, looking down at my lap, not able to hold the intensity of his look.

“Why do you care?” he growled before leaving.

A couple of seconds later, I jumped as I heard the door slam shut.

My heart clenched, and I looked over at Gio’s sister as she whimpered and pulled her into me, softly cooing her back to sleep as silent tears ran down my cheeks.

“Stupid feelings,” I muttered as I began to drift off into sleep too.
