🌸 Clean & Wholesome💓 Friends to Lovers🏙️ Contemporary

In the second installment of the Alaska Emergency Docs duet, temporarily giving in to temptation wasn't supposed to mean having a baby with her best friend! MR. RIGHT WAS IN FRONT OF HER ALL ALONG… ER doc Jessie has always treasured her friendship with nurse William. Until an unexpected night of passion leaves her expecting his baby! Now she must acknowledge what she's long denied: Jessie wants William to be more than her best friend. But William's previous trauma still haunts him, and Jessie's scared of losing what they already have. Can they find the courage to forge a life — as a family?

PROLOGUE

FIERY PERFECTION.
William had always beaten away the question of how Jessie kissed. For years, any time his brain awkwardly wandered into thoughts about craving the woman, and best friend, he never wanted to lose, he’d force them away. Tie them into a solid knot and dump them in the back of his mind with the hope they’d finally stay where he’d put them—but they never did.
Now he knew. For the rest of his life, he’d know that Jessie’s kisses were fiery perfection.
“William.”
The breathy way she said his name made him hard. Again. A feat that should not be possible this soon.
Her fingernails gently circled his belly button, not dipping down to his manhood. Was she going to bring up how they’d gotten here?
She was an ER doctor and he was a trauma nurse. They’d picked up dinner to share after losing a minor to suicide and a young woman who’d had a fight with her boyfriend, gotten drunk, driven home and impacted against a tree.
The ER shift from hell. But this wasn’t their first trip to Hades.
Yes, the second case was a painful reminder of his past, but that still didn’t explain how they’d landed tangled in Jessie’s light blue sheets.
He ran a finger down her back, enjoying the tiny whimper she let out.
“You are so beautiful.” William turned on his side, pulling her leg over his so he could stroke her core.
“You keep saying that.” Jessie’s lips brushed his, once, twice, and on the third pass she deepened the kiss.
The urgency of their first coupling was over. The fear that she’d dart out of bed, say this was a mistake and order him from her townhome was dissipating. He wasn’t sure how long the dream was going to last so he was going to enjoy every minute of it.
His hand brushed over her hip, pausing on the tiny row of scars. “Jessie?”
“That’s BA.” Jessie grabbed his hand, directing it to exactly where she wanted it.
Before Anchorage. BA. Their code words for off limits.
It was the foundation of their friendship. She’d arrived at Anchorage Memorial fresh off her residency in Colorado. He’d shifted the conversation away from the “where’d you come from, tell us how you got here” talk on her first shift. Made a joke about his customary question to ask a new person was their favorite fish.
To his surprise she’d immediately said guppy, started talking about her love of hiking. He enjoyed it too and boom, a friendship was born.
But Jessie didn’t talk about her past.
And he got that.
He’d run to Anchorage after his engagement had fallen apart. Until his childhood friend Georgia had shown up as the new doc at the hospital a few weeks ago, no one had even known the name of his hometown.
He and Jessie knew nearly everything about each other’s present. Favorite food. Favorite color. Hiking shoe size. The fact that she hated coffee but faked liking it because that was easier than explaining that the cliché exhausted doctor with a hug mug of coffee was a television stereotype, not the truth.
Now he knew she made the softest little noises just before he brought her to completion. As he ran his hand over her hip, his thumb again traced the cluster of tiny scars.
Jessie tensed, then put her hands on either side of his face and kissed him. She rolled, pinning him to the bed; her red hair draped across his chest as she trailed kisses down his cheeks, his jaw, his stomach, ever lower.
The scars were BA. She didn’t want him asking but the questions bubbled in his brain.
Until she took him in her mouth. As her soft lips closed on his manhood, he could think of only one thing.
Jessie and her fiery, perfect kisses.
