She screamed in fright, tripping over her own feet to get away from me.

“Goddess, you could wake the dead with that scream, never mind the neighborhood. What are you doing down here? Come to meet Warren?” I grabbed her arm and pulled her upright.

“I thought I was the crazy one. Now I think I’m the only sane one in this entire fucking town. I’m leaving!”

Jedson didn’t want Juno. He’d been rejected once before and vowed never to be that vulnerable again. Juno had no idea she would land in a remote area when she jumped into the boxcar to get away from her assailant.
