KRISTEN
It had been four months since my wedding. I had started seeing a therapist to help me cope with what happened that night.
That day was supposed to be the happiest day of my life, but it had turned out to be a nightmare.
I didn’t know what I would have done without Will. He had been my rock through all this. He always knew what to say or do to put me at ease. I loved him so much.
Jamie was the strongest of us all. She was the one who got shot, but she still stands with a smile on her face.
Not long ago, Finn and Jamie renewed their wedding vows. They’d wanted to celebrate in front of family and friends. It could be a good idea for Will and I to do the same thing.
I was well aware that it wouldn’t change the past, but it could give us happy new memories.
Will and I had heard something extraordinary the day before. I couldn’t wait to share it with my friends and see their reactions.
We were heading to Finn’s and Jamie’s house. It was the first time we’d see it, and we were already late.
Seeing Daniel and Sarah leaving when we got there, Will and I went inside Finn and Jamie’s house.
Jamie had told me that Sarah was pregnant, and her mother was against the idea. She was tough on her.
I didn’t know what had happened, but eventually, her mother changed her mind, and now she couldn’t wait to be a grandmother. I was happy for Sarah.
“But where have you been? Did you at least get the pie I asked for?” Jamie greeted us.
I put my hand over my mouth with a gasp. “I’m so sorry! Something came up, and we forgot.” I looked at Will, and he nodded.
It was time to announce our big news. “We have something to tell everyone.”
Will cleared his throat. “May I have everyone’s attention, please?” I intertwined our fingers. It was all the encouragement he needed to keep going. “We are having a baby. Kristen’s pregnant.”
Jamie jumped into her brother’s arms. “I’m so happy for you guys. I can’t believe I’m going to be an aunt.”
“Thank you, sis.” He returned her hug.
As Jamie let go of Will, Finn was next to congratulate him. Their parents were next in line.
“It will be our first grandchild,” Will’s mother said with happy tears in her eyes. She hugged me before Mr. Harrison came to congratulate me as well.
He kissed me on the forehead. “Congratulations. I’m happy for both of you.” I gave him a hug as I thanked him.
“Kristen, congratulations.” Jamie wrapped her arms around me once I released her father from the hug. “If you need a babysitter, I’m there.”
I gave her a smile. “I hope so. You’ll be the godmother.”
“Where’s Juliet?” I asked Lauren.
She shrugged. “I think she’ll be here soon.”
I looked around, and as usual, I saw Travis had his arm around some woman I had never seen before.
Would he ever stop? I shook my head. I shouldn’t have been surprised. Ever since I had known him, he had been this way.
I remembered the first time I had met him. He tried to seduce me, but when he saw Will glaring at him, he immediately stopped.
“Oh, my god, Jamie. Your house is so beautiful,” I heard Juliet say.
Jamie smiled at her. “Well, thank you. So tell me, how have you been?”
“Well, I have a new boyfriend now.” Since when has Juliet had a boyfriend? I wondered to myself. “Sadly, he couldn’t make it. He had to work.”
I didn’t know why, but when Juliet mentioned having a boyfriend, I automatically looked at Travis. Maybe because I wanted to see his reaction.
He was staring at Juliet and didn’t seem happy to see her. Had he heard about the part about her having a boyfriend? Was he jealous?
“Hey, blondie bear. I’m bored here. Are you ready to leave yet?” the random woman said to Travis.
Blondie bear. I’d heard that nickname before, but I didn’t remember where.
Travis answered, “Yes, sugar. We can leave. I saw everything I needed to see.”
He left without saying goodbye to anyone. That summed it up. Travis didn’t like that Juliet had a boyfriend.
I needed some fresh air. I stepped outside, inhaling the air.
I felt muscular arms circling my body. “You okay, cricket?”
I nodded, leaning my body back against Will. “Yes. I can’t believe that I’m pregnant. It will help me focus on something besides what happened at our wedding.”
“I’m glad you don’t blame yourself anymore for what happened to Jamie.” He kissed the side of my head.
“It took me a while to realize it. Therapy helps a lot.”
“Finn told me that Jamie was seeing a therapist as well. I’m just glad that you are both okay.” Will tightened his arms around me.
“I’m ready to go back inside. Are you coming?” I asked him. He took my hand in his as he guided me back inside the house.
I put my hand on my stomach, thinking of the baby growing inside me. I couldn’t believe that our love had created life.
Once I stepped inside Jamie’s house, I went to see Juliet to tell her the news. She was the only one who didn’t know.
I knew I was only at the beginning of my pregnancy, but I couldn’t wait to see my baby. I didn’t care if it was a boy or a girl. All I wanted was for my baby to be healthy. That was all I asked.
