Prologue

KELLY

A familiar hand, wide and calloused, traced a path down my back, from shoulder to hip, where it held me firmly.

I smiled into my pillow. At last. Will was here.

After spending our first few days apart during the full moon, and being pulled away from the caves by my mother’s threats and promises of answers, I’d experienced the same jitters and shakes as the first time.

But this second moon was different. I felt like a coke addict going through withdrawal. When I wasn’t tossing and turning in my sleep, my blood felt like it was either on fire or submerged in ice water.

My body had been screaming for something I didn’t understand for three full days, and it had punished me for denying it.

I’d regretted leaving Will behind to follow my mother into that black sedan more than once.

He had soothed my body that first time, fulfilling whatever need I’d had; he could have done it again.

But my need for answers and to return my cousin’s baby to her mother had been stronger than my craving for him.

A few days after making that decision, when the moon had passed and my body had calmed, my mind had started to fill with erotic dreams of him.

Something I hadn’t yet faced had been calling for him, something that had wanted him more than it had wanted freedom. And now, he was finally here.

The bedroom my mother had led me to after our long flight to Italy had a large window facing west, away from the morning sun.

My eyes fluttered open to the first hints of dawn breaking through the night. Light was slowly filling the room.

The hand on my hip tightened, promising more. How was he here? How had he bypassed my mother’s ward on this little farm in the Italian hills?

His touch felt so good. I quickly decided I didn’t care and shouldn’t ask questions when I didn’t want the answers.

I pressed back into him, instinctively arching deeper into his hold.

His voice whispered in my ear as he brushed my hair away. “Kelly…”

His firm hand wandered lower, cupping me intimately.

I tilted my head back into his breath at my ear. “Mm-hmm?”

His broad hands pulled me deeper into him, and his forceful hand slipped between my legs, prying the top one up and back over his thigh.

Fingers tiptoed across my warm skin, moving inward. I groaned in pleasure.

How long had it been since Will had touched me like this? Two weeks? Two and a half?

Eternity.

His hand was at the apex of my thigh and center, and he lightly trailed a finger along my core, teasing.

“Kelly…,” he murmured again, quietly so he wouldn’t wake anyone else in the house but enough to rouse my libido.

I grabbed his hand that was nearly inside me and pushed it farther in.

“Mm-hmm?” It was the only response my brain could provide at this moment.

I felt his chin brush my earlobe, and the stubble on it played havoc with my nerves. Fingers touched me and went inside, rubbing and circling.

“Kel…come back to me.”

My eyes snapped open to see the window now in total darkness. I sat up, feeling tense, wanting, unsatisfied, and very much alone in my bed. I glanced at the clock radio, now showing 2:05 a.m.

I fell back onto the pillow and screamed frustration into its feathers.

I was so fucking fucked, just not literally.
