Capture Me Book 2

Daphne Watson

Chapter 4

The next morning, he let me go to work. I practically wanted to run out of there, but of course, he had to be the one to drop me off.

During the drive to my office, I dared to ask.

“So how come nobody asked where you were these past few months?”

“I had my men tell everyone that I needed to take a business trip.”

“Oh.”

“Yes.”

“So, huh, do I really need to move in? Xavier, I’m still hurt after how you didn’t believe me and beat me almost to death.”

“I know, and I am sorry for that, but I have enemies and I can’t do my work worrying about how you are and if you are safe. So, end of discussion. I want you there, and so you shall be.”

“Fine.” I snapped. Fuck him. God, why can’t he see that I don’t want him? It’s so frustrating.

Luckily, we finally arrived at my work, and I just jumped out of the car and ran inside.

He yelled something at me, but I didn’t understand what.

The day passed so quickly that I wished that it didn’t. When I was leaving the building, I saw the black shiny Audi waiting for me.

But me being a bitch, I took the back exit and made my way home. I finally arrived home and when I opened my door I almost fell over my feet.

My once beautifully decorated apartment was now an empty apartment. I was fuming. How dare he?

I stepped inside and all my clothes were emptied out. He really moved me.

Bastard.

“Katherine,” Someone called. Fuck I forgot to close the front door.

I turned around to meet Xavier. Of course, he would be here.

“There was a car waiting for you before your workplace. Why did you sneak away?” He took a few steps closer to me.

If I held up my hands, I could touch him. He was dressed in a new navy-blue suit.

I know people who saw him for the first time thought that he looked like a model or something. If only they knew him.

“I wanted to see my apartment. Why did you do this? Why take everything? You could have left everything here.”

“Love, we need to start a new chapter. And with a ready apartment, we are not doing that.”

“People start a new chapter when they decide so. Not when it is decided for them. That’s the difference, Xavier.”

“We will make it work. Come, let’s go home.”

He grabbed my hand and pulled me with him.

The drive back was quiet. He tried to make small talk but it was no use.

“Also, I wanted to ask you something. The new business deal I’m trying to seal needs some adjustments.

“I’m building a new hotel in Tokyo and the people I’m working with want me to find an interior designer, so they can see how the hotel could look.

“I thought that you could sketch some ideas.” He looked at me.

“Sure,” I answered.

I could pull some old ideas. On second thought. This would be the perfect opportunity to sabotage this deal. Hmm, this sounds like a brilliant plan.

“Great, I will send you all the details. You can even start today if you wish.” He smiled.

“That would be great, I already have some ideas.” If he only knew.

When we finally arrived back at the mansion. I took a quick shower and excused myself to brainstorm some ideas. Xavier was thrilled to see me so excited about this.

The contract clearly stated that they wanted a modern and new approach. So I needed to fuck this up and do the exact opposite.

The task was to design the reception area and a few rooms to start with, and if they liked this then there would be more rooms to do.

I was so inspired by bad ideas that I finished designing two rooms and the reception area by dinner time. They were a disaster. I combined colors that don’t even match. Like red and blue and so on.

I think they will love it.

I didn’t eat dinner, excusing myself saying that I’m not feeling well. I didn’t want to see Xavier. He wasn’t abusive like before, but that still didn’t change what happened.

A knock on the door pulled me out of my thoughts.

“Love?” Xavier asked.

“Yes?”

“I have a work emergency. I need to leave. I will be back tomorrow morning, and we can spend the day together, yeah?” he asked hopefully.

“Of course.”

“Great. Eat something before bed, okay?”

I hummed in response. He kissed me on my forehead and left.

By the next morning, I had already finished making the model for every room. I couldn’t sleep, and so I finished this shitty project.

I put the model pictures in a folder so Xavier couldn’t see them. I can’t wait for his face when he sees them at the meeting.

I had breakfast and right after Xavier showed up. I was dressed in jeans and a sweater. It wasn’t cold outside, but it was chilly.

He looked tired, and I also noted that he’d changed his clothes. He definitely showered somewhere. So was it really a work emergency?

“Hello, darling.” He kissed me quickly, and I made myself smile back at him.

“Let me just change, and we can be on our way,” he yelled halfway up the stairs.

A few minutes later, he was ready to go.

He was dressed in a similar manner to me.

“So, where are we going?” I asked.

“Let’s have a picnic and after that, I have a surprise.”

“Sure.”

He drove us to a clearing outside of London. It was nice, peaceful even. Who knows, a cold-blooded killer and Mafia boss could plan something like this.

“Let’s eat.” He pulled us to the picnic blanket and passed me the little sandwiches.

I had breakfast not even an hour ago, but a girl’s got to eat. I laughed at that thought.

“What are you laughing at?”

“Oh, nothing. It’s silly.”

“No, tell me. Please.”

“Fine, I just remembered that I had breakfast not so long ago and here I am, eating again with such an appetite.”

He laughed. “Well, that’s a good thing, love. You are far too thin.”

“Well, one of us has to stay thin.” I jabbed back.

“Ouch, are you saying I am getting fat?”

“Maybe.” I smirked back at him. It was fun poking at him. I almost forgot everything that he did to me.

He saw the sudden change in my mood and said, “Hey, you up for that surprise I mentioned?” He brushed my hair away from my face.

“Sure.”

I looked at the time and I saw that hours had passed since we arrived. How did the time fly by so quickly?

“Okay, so what is the surprise?” I asked. I could barely hold myself back.

“I thought we could also go wine tasting. What do you say?” He grabbed my hand.

“Okay, I have never been to a tasting.”

“I know.” He smirked. Of course. He just needs to remind me that he is so creepy that he must spy on people.

I just smiled in exchange.

When we got to the car, I asked.

“Can I drive?” I gave him the winning smile that makes all men fazed.

“Sure, love.” He passed me the keys for the Porsche, and we were off.

We were driving around half an hour when I spoke.

“I finished designing the reception area and two bedrooms.”

He looked up. He looked surprised.

“Already? But I told you about that yesterday.”

“Yeah, you could say I was inspired.” I laughed.

“You are perfect, you know that, right?”

I didn’t answer. Why does he say such things?

“Is this it?” I pulled up to this urban winery, and it looked so nice.

“Yes, we’re here.” I parked, and he led me into the winery.

The smell there was something new. The room held so many aromas that I couldn’t pick out my favorite.

“Come.” He led me to a table with lit candles. We took our seats, and he handed me a list of wines I could try.

“So, which ones would you like to try?”

“I have no clue. I was never excellent with wine. Why don’t you pick?” I suggested. I was awful at choosing.

“Okay, so let’s start with the white and finish with red wine?”

“Fine by me.”

The waiter was bringing wine after wine. All of them were delicious. But I think I preferred the white more than the red.

“So, which wine is the winning wine for you?” he asked.

“The chardonnay probably.”

“I know it.”

“What?”

“The chardonnay was made in the year you were born. I had it specifically flown here for you.”

“Oh…”

He smiled and grabbed my hand. He kissed my knuckles and made a “hmm” sound.

“Did you like designing the rooms for the hotel?”

“Oh, you have no idea.”
