The Unseen Series Book 3

The Art of Concentration

Nonali

“Your cousin seems to have a death wish,” Ezra whispered, his lips brushing against the sensitive spot just below her ear.

“I’m trying to focus,” she retorted, her voice laced with frustration. “Why is this so difficult?”

“It’s not. Just imagine yourself somewhere else,” he grumbled, clearly annoyed by her dismissal.

She attempted to follow Dahlia’s advice, but the moment she felt the lightness of magic, she was abruptly pulled back to reality.

It was as if the magic was being drained from her. She gritted her teeth, stormed out of the training room, and slammed the door behind her.

“I can’t do it!” she roared, shattering a vase in the hallway. “Every time I feel like I’m about to teleport, the magic just vanishes!”

“Hmm. I’m not doing anything to stop you. It must be something you’re thinking about. Maybe Dahlia was right when she said you just need to focus.”

She glared at him, her eyes filled with fury at the mention of the word focus.

He raised his hands defensively and gave her a pointed look. She sighed and pinched the bridge of her nose.

“If you’re tired of practicing, I can think of other activities to distract you,” he suggested, a mischievous grin playing on his lips.

“I need to master this. Dahlia said it’s basic stuff.”

Without warning, Ezra scooped her up and threw her over his shoulder.

He carried her to their room and tossed her onto the bed. She bounced and glared at him, but before she could protest, he was pulling his shirt over his head and silencing her with a kiss.

She tried to speak, but he just rolled his eyes, pinned her arms above her head, and stuffed his shirt into her mouth as a makeshift gag.

She narrowed her eyes and kicked at him, outraged by his audacity. His smug grin only fueled her anger.

She couldn’t believe she had been ever scared of this infuriating man. He hooked his free hand into her sweats and underwear, pulling them down her legs as far as he could.

“If you want to stop me, you’ll have to teleport.” He chuckled darkly, wedging a knee between her legs.

His fingers explored the spot between her thighs that made her toes curl, and she closed her eyes.

She couldn’t comprehend how she was supposed to concentrate on magic with his hands doing that.

“I think your problem is that you’re overthinking,” he murmured in her ear, his deep voice sending shivers down her spine.

His thumb circled her clit and she lost all focus.

Her muffled moans of pleasure escaped through the gag, bringing a smile to Ezra’s face.

He released her, pulling his shirt away and kissing her passionately. She yearns to melt into him.

His fingers moved rhythmically, curling as they retreated, and she matched his rhythm with her hips.

Her back arched as she climaxed, her cries of pleasure echoing in the silent house. She was still catching her breath when he flipped her over.

He pulled her hips back against his, giving her a taste of what was to come.

Something much larger than his fingers filled her suddenly, leaving her wondering when he had time to undress. She was stretched to the point of discomfort. She couldn’t resist grinding back against him.

His groan of approval encouraged her, and she wriggled more.

His fingers dug into her hips, and their movements became a wild dance of push and pull. Her arms trembled with the effort of supporting herself as his hips thrust into hers, the sound of skin slapping against skin echoing in her ears.

When they finally collapsed, Ezra pulled her close. She was enveloped in heat, his wings heavy and leaving trails of ash on the bed.

She was uncomfortable, to say the least. She pushed against his chest, trying to escape the sticky warmth.

“Ezra, let go. It’s too hot,” she mumbled from beneath his muscular arm.

“Deal with it. That was quite the workout,” he panted.

She bit his nipple and throat, the only parts she could reach, and struggled to lift him off.

His only response was to chuckle and hold her tighter. She could almost feel the coolness of the shower. The water was calling her name, and she was determined to answer.

Suddenly, she felt a twist inside her. The familiar sensation of magic filled her.

She felt as if she was being pulled into something, a feeling of lightness overtaking her. Everything went dark. When she opened her eyes, she realized she was no longer in the stifling heat of Ezra’s embrace.

The cool tiles of the bathroom were a welcome relief against her bare legs and back.

She stared at the ceiling in disbelief. The magic that had been humming inside her just moments ago was now dormant.

The sound of bare feet slapping against the hallway floor snapped her back to reality.

“Nonali!” Ezra called out, looking both attractive and flustered in his naked state in the doorway. “You really need to work on your landing,” he snorted.

“Hey, I teleported,” she said absently.

He gave her a look that clearly expressed his amusement. “Are you okay?”

“Sorry, I just feel a bit strange. Maybe it’s magical whiplash or something.” She frowned, sitting up.

The world spun, and she quickly lay back down.

“Should I call Dahlia?” Ezra’s voice was laced with worry.

“I’m not sure. Maybe this is normal for the first time. I’ll probably be fine in a minute.” She could already feel the dizziness subsiding. “I really just want to take a shower.”

“Hey, at least you can teleport now. I told you that you just needed to focus.”
