Book 4: The Rise of Nix

Once upon a time, before humans and the earth we know, the universe was a silent, infinite void. Then, a cosmic event of epic proportions happened: The Big Bang. Energy erupted from this monumental explosion, with powerful forces scattering in all directions.

Centuries, as we understand them, passed before these energies began to evolve. They started to take shape, growing stronger with each passing moment.

In the perfect conditions of the void, these energies eventually gave birth to souls. Ancient civilizations referred to them as gods.

As they reached their peak in the pitch-black void, these energies sought out their counterparts, and the gods began to gravitate toward each other.

They spent a brief, blissful period mingling, sharing visions of what could be. But soon, they grew restless, frustrated with each other and the endless void.

That’s when Jupiter, the most powerful among them, had a brainwave. He proposed they create their own beings, in the image they desired.

The others agreed, and thus, over a few thousand years, the earth was formed. This planet would be their home, and the humans, their subjects.

Time flowed in this divine union, with the gods living among their humans, receiving daily adoration. But immortality can be a bore, and some gods grew tired of these simple beings.

Bellon, one of the top gods, decided to stir things up. He chose a human, Vladimir, and tainted his soul with power and darkness.

This gave birth to vampires, creatures doomed to drink human blood and live in the night forever.

Jupiter, upset by the transformation of his creations, sought Neptune’s help. Neptune agreed with Jupiter and suggested they create their own creature from the humans.

And so, werewolves were born. They were as powerful as the vampires, but they could live in the light.

Bellon got wind of this plan and, in retaliation, he introduced a vulnerability. While werewolves could walk in the sun, they would be compelled to transform under the full moon, exposing a weakness their enemies could exploit.

Thus, these creatures began to coexist with humans, all on equal footing.

But change breeds fear. Humans outnumbered the beasts, but they fought back. A great war ensued, claiming many lives and forcing the creatures into hiding.

The gods, for their part, did nothing to aid their creations; they merely observed from afar.

As time went on, some of the lesser gods created their own species, not as powerful but still magical. Soon, various creatures intermingled and bred in the shadows, leading to even more anomalies.

Humans, by this point, were blissfully ignorant of the changes happening around them.

But peace was fleeting, as the creatures yearned to live openly, not hide their true selves. As humans advanced, building impressive structures and growing more curious, travel between continents became easier and less perilous.

This allowed the supernatural beings to explore different species. But with exploration came hatred, leading to death among them.

It became clear that the supernatural beings would never accept each other, and at the rate they were going, they would soon be extinct.

The three gods watched the chaos from their towers, indifferent to the mess they had created. The lesser gods, however, felt remorse for their actions and decided to intervene.

One of these gods, Deimos, stepped forward and implored the gods to do something. Whether they were simply bored or genuinely wanted to help, they agreed.

A new creature had to be created, one with the power of a god, but not too powerful, and possessing the traits of all creatures. They searched far and wide, knowing the chosen one had to be kind yet firm, compassionate yet able to stand up for what’s right.

They chose a human, and she was bestowed with powers. For she was to become the first witch.
