“The execution is in an hour, and we both need to be there,” Killian said as he released her after making out and hugging her for almost an hour.
“Is that your way of saying hurry up?” Mera asked as she gave him a look.
Killian chuckled. “Basically, but there is something else you have to see,” he said as he turned serious.
“What is it?” she asked.
Killian took her hand in his and walked toward the standing mirror in her room.
She didn’t know what he was talking about until she saw herself in the mirror, and her breathing stopped.
He released her hand, and Mera walked closer to the mirror to see if what she was seeing was actually real.
“What the…”
She breathed deeply as she brushed her hand through her hair.
The hair that had lost its blonde color and now had black roots that changed to a white-gray at the tips.
“Once acknowledged, a Wolvensoul’s appearance changes to their true self.
“The bloodline that resides in them makes their eye color emerald green and their hair the same color as the pelt of the first ever Wolvensoul.
“Black roots and white-gray tips, showing all who meet her who she is,” Killian said as he walked up to her and stood still behind her.
Mera gulped as she looked at him in the mirror.
“As days passed, your hair started to change from the roots down. It was another confirmation of what you are,” Killian added as she looked at him.
Mera gulped as she looked at herself again. “Sure, why not?” she said; she didn’t know what else to say.
Killian chuckled as he wrapped his arms around her waist and laid his chin on her shoulder. “I think it suits you. It shows your power and that you can defend yourself.”
She sighed as she leaned against him and laid her arms on his own around her waist.
“I don’t mind it either. It’s just not something you’d expect to wake up to. It’s just something I have to get used to,” she said.
Killian placed a kiss against her temple, and Mera closed her eyes as shivers ran down her spine.
“Everything will be okay in the end, Mera. No matter what changes are thrown at you,” he whispered in her ear.
She smiled a little as she opened her eyes. “Will you ever stop being optimistic?”
Killian chuckled as he placed one more kiss against her temple before releasing her. “You’d be surprised. Now go get ready before my mother has my head.”
Mera rolled her eyes as Killian pushed her toward the bathroom. She looked behind her and saw Killian wink before he left her room and closed the door.
She smiled as she turned on the shower and stripped naked before getting in.
She cleaned herself before she got out of the shower and put on some clean underwear.
Mera walked into her room and looked at the dress that lay on her chair. It was a long white dress with a silk and chiffon layer.
If she didn’t know better, she would have thought it was a ball gown.
She put it on and stood in front of her mirror.
It was a beautiful dress with a small train that would flow around her when she walked.
The bodice was made from silk and decorated with white lace leaves that reached her hips. The sleeves were made of the same lace, without the silk underneath it, and reached her wrists.
It had an off-the-shoulder neckline, and as she looked at it, she revoked her thought and came to the conclusion that it was more a bridal gown than a ball gown.
She shook the thought out of her head and applied some makeup. She braided two thin strands of hair on either side of her head and connected them at the back, allowing the rest of her hair to hang loose.
Mera looked at her hair and ran her fingers through it.
She didn’t know why, but she liked it more than the blonde hair she had before.
With a sigh, she pulled her eyes away from the mirror and saw a pair of heels standing by the chair where the dress had been.
She walked toward them and put on the plain black heels before she got up and walked toward the door.
Mera stopped as she suddenly heard Ruben’s voice.
She heard their voices as if she was standing with them. She really needed to find out how that happened.
Mera could hear the anticipation in Synne’s voice.
“As well as she can be right now. She was shocked when she heard she’d been out of her body for a month, as it felt like a day for her, and when she saw her hair, but she handled it well,” Killian said.
Mera opened the door and walked out of her room.
“If being shocked and completely lost about this is handling it well, then I’m doing a great job,” she said as she walked into the living room and saw everyone—literally everyone…
Synne, Adrien, Killian, Viggo, Ruben, Aksel, Edvin, Ken, Mitch, Patrick, Lars, Pia, Kevin, Sven, and Elsa were all in the room, all wearing white as she was; they all looked at her.
Mera noticed Killian gulp when he saw her; he looked like he was having to fight every fiber in his body not to grab her and mark her immediately.
She looked absolutely beautiful.
“Wow,” Ruben said quietly as he slowly walked toward her and looked at her in wonder.
Mera crouched down in front of him. He gently took a strand of her hair in his hand and played with it.
“It’s still me, Ruben.”
Ruben met her eyes as he looked up from his hand.
“No, you are the true you,” he said before a big smile appeared on his face, and he immediately wrapped his arms around her neck.
Relief washed over Mera as she heard his words. She wrapped her arms around him as well, and she hugged him back.
“You truly are an Ulfhednar!” Ruben exclaimed as he pulled away and looked at her with excitement.
Mera chuckled as she stroked his hair. “Ulhednars are still different from what I am, Ruben.”
“Still, you do have a wolf, even if it’s just the soul of one!” Ruben said with a big smile.
She moved forward and placed a kiss on his forehead. “Thank you, Ruben,” she whispered.
“Of all the things that could have explained your blood”—she looked up at Patrick, who looked at her with tears in his eyes—“I never thought about the line that ran through me.”
“You are from the same bloodline?” she asked, surprised as she got up.
Patrick nodded. “When I was studying to become a doctor, I had to dig into my genealogy.
“I found parts in my blood I had never seen before, and things connected, but they were dim. I never thought they would have any influence,” he said as he looked at her with regret.
“Until now.”
Mera gulped as she walked toward him.
“I’m so sorry, Mera. I’m so sorry I never saw the signs before,” he said as tears ran down his cheeks.
She wrapped her arms around him and hugged her father as he hugged her back.
“None of us did, Dad. You are not to blame for anything,” she said.
They pulled away from each other, and Patrick cupped her face. “You are so beautiful, Mera. I can’t be prouder of you,” he said.
Mera smiled as she hugged him again.
Mitch walked up to them, and Mera reached out one hand toward him, which he took with a small smile.
“And I couldn’t be prouder to be your brother, Mera,” he said, and a smile formed on her own face.
“Thank you. The both of you,” she said as she pulled away and released Mitch’s hand.
“If you weren’t badass before, you sure are now.”
Mera looked at Elsa and chuckled.
“All of you can still kick my ass, so don’t give me too much praise,” Mera said as she turned toward her.
“Oh, don’t you worry about that,” Edvin chimed in. “We will have you fighting like a warrior in no time,” he said with an evil grin.
“Oh, gods…,” Mera said as she gave him a weary look.
Synne chuckled as she walked toward Mera. “I knew you were meant for great things,” she said as she hugged Mera as well.
“I’m so glad you finally found out who you are and became your true self.”
Synne pulled back and looked at Mera. “Even though you are still in danger, you are even stronger than you were before, and you are not alone. We will always be here for you.”
Mera gave her a smile. “Thank you.”
“You don’t need to thank us, Mera. You are like family to us, and we will have your back no matter what,” Adrien said as he walked up to her and gave her a hug as well.
Mera glanced at Killian, who smiled at her.
“But now we have to handle another matter,” Adrien said as he pulled away and sighed.
“Tore,” Mera said.
