Coral
âMorris, answer it.â
âYou know he doesnât know yet, right?â Morris asked.
âWhat if the hospital sent him a copy? I canât take that chance, so please, bestie, answer it.â
âFirst time sheâs calling me bestie,â Morris muttered under her breath. âFine, but you owe me.â Morris picked up the call the put it on speaker.
âHello,â Nikolai said immediately.
âHey, Nikolai.â
âMorris, where is Coral?â
âCoral is my best friend, Nikolai, not my wife. Last time I checked, you stole her from me.â
âMorris, you are with her phone,â Nikolai said in a deadpan.
âAm I?â
âWell duh!â Nikolai sounded angry.
Coral snickered to herself. âFlirt with him,â she mouthed.
âNo,â Morris mouthed back furiously.
âMorris, donât mess with me. Give my wife the phone.â
âNikolai, you have really beautiful eyes.â
âI know. Now give my wife her phone.â
âNo, I think she doesnât deserve you. I think you donât deserve her. You deserve someone like me who is beautiful and loving.â
âMorris, you are married.â
âA little affair never hurt.â
âI am also married, Morris, and trust me when I say this: if I wasnât married, you wouldnât even be my first choice any day.â
âDid you just insult me?â Morris dropped the whole lovey-dovey facade and jumped straight to an angry tone.
âI knew you were acting, now give the phone to Coral.â
âItâs for you.â
Coral took the phone off speaker then pressed it to her ear.
âHello, babe,â she said in a sing-song voice.
âDonde estas?â he asked angrily. Where are you?
âEstoy en el spa.â I am at the spa.
âLlegar a casa ahora.â Get home now.
âNikolai, I am out with my girls. You said this morning, âknock yourself out,â and thatâs what Iâm doing.â
âAhora.â Now.
âSuendas enojado.â You sound angry.
âEstoy enojado. Come back home.â I am angry.
She heard a beep indicating that he had ended the call.
âYou guys continue, I already paid. Nikolai needs me at home.â
âCall me,â Morris said with sad eyes and Coral nodded.
âOkay.â Coral headed to the changing room.
When she was dressed in her white romper she picked up her $2280 Givenchy Antigona bag then headed out to her husbandâs newest love interest, his Bugatti la Voiture Noire.
He did tell her to knock herself out, and what better way than to spend her day with overpriced items around her? The rich life surely suited her.
She got into the car, not missing the people who were staring at the beautiful piece of work and the sexy woman with the expensive clothing getting into it.
She told herself that if Nikolai was angry because she took one of his most expensive and newest cars for a spin, she was going to behead him. She put the car in gear then headed to their lavish mansion.
âHey whatâs up?â Coral said when she entered the house. She saw him sitting on the couch with a glass of scotch.
Nikolai looked up at her, his eyes bloodshot and his lips losing color.
âAre you crying?â She dropped her bag immediately and rushed over to him, dropping to her knees and hugging him.
He pushed away from her.
âDonât touch me.â He stood up then walked past her.
âNikolai itâs just a car,â she said, immediately regretting it. He never told her it was about his car, and here she was making assumptions.
âThis isnât about a car. I got fired.â
âBut you own the company?â
âWell, thank God you know that. Here, drink this.â He handed her the glass of scotch.
âI canât really drink right now,â she said, thinking about the child in her womb.
âDrink it,â Coral took the glass from him and sipped out of it.
âItâs poisoned.â
She let go of the cup; it broke into a million tiny pieces. and scotch, of course, stained the white floor.
âYou are very stupid,â Nikolai said.
âWhy are you messing with me?â
âIâll clean this up,â Kim said with a mop, broom, and dustpan in hand. Almost like she was waiting for it to happen.
âFollow me.â
Coral picked up her handbag then followed him quietly up the stairs to the door of their bedroom. âOpen it.â
She brought her key out of her bag, then carefully unlocked the door. Pushing it open, she gasped at the horrifying sight that met her; the room was in disarray.
The wall-length mirror was broken, the curtains were pulled from their post, the sliding door that led to the city-view balcony had been shattered with a chair that lay carelessly beside it, the bedsheets were stripped.
âWho did this!â
âI did this, Coral, because you broke my heart. Sit.â
She quickly obeyed in order to not get him angrier than he already was. Her hands fidgeted with themselves in her lap as she waited for him to rip off the band-aid.
âCoral, what havenât I given to you? Look at this house, it is fit for the queen that you mean to me. We have been married for two years. It isnât much but it is something. Is there something wrong with me?
âI take good care of you, buy you everything and anything, take you on the most expensive and luxurious trips, take you out to eat overpriced meals in the best restaurants.
âYou have a bodyguard, two even, and your personal maid. I buy you bags, cars, clothes, you name it.
âYou canât even deny that I give you the best sex. Everything I hand over to you, all at my expense every day. I spend a house on you every day because I want you to be happy.
âAnd you go behind my fucking back, how do you even sleep at night?â
âI didnât ask for these things. I wouldnât have loved you less if you worked at a department store.â
âIs that so?â
âYeah, I fell in love with you because of you. I love you for you, Nikolai, so donât come out dissing me. I havenât asked you for anything.â
âYou are such a liar.â
Coral breathed out. âNikolai, I didnât think you would find out like this. I didnât even knowââ
âThat you are cheating on me.â
âExcuse you, I am not cheating on you,â
âCoral, what is this?â Nikolai took his phone out of his pocket to show her a picture.
âA picture.â
Nikolai yanked her off the bed then pressed her against the wall hands above her head.
âI know itâs a fucking picture, but what is happening in the picture?â
âYour new porn interest?â She giggled, pushing away from him.
Nikolai pulled her back to him so she could face him.
âFirstly, I do not watch porn. Secondly, I am not smiling with you,â
âNo you are not.â Her face dropped to a frown.
âLet me see the picture,â Coral whispered and Nikolai showed it to her.
âThatâs not me. Of all your employees, seriously? Chris? I married you. Chris is not my type.â
âSo explain the picture.â
âNikolai, itâs 2022âphotoshopping is an easy thing.â
âCoral, you are seriously straddling this dude and shoving your tongue down his throat.â
âThat is not me, trust me,â
âNo, I will not trust you, Coral, you are capable of this kind of thing. So you prefer a man who works at a gentlemanâs club to me who pays this certain man?
âLet me just tell you that I fired his ass and you know what that meansâno more job opportunities for him.â
âThatâsâŚimpulsive.â
âTrust me, thatâs the least of your problems. Iâm divorcing you and when the court finds out we have a prenuptial agreement, baby, you are done for. So by the time I get back, you must be gone. Pray to God I do not find you.â
âDude, you sound dumb,â
âYou watch me.â
