CADEN
The days have been going like clockwork. Eva and Nate come and have lunch with me every day, and today they are bringing sandwiches. I heard that Nate helped his mom, so I can’t wait. They should be here in thirty minutes.
Natalia should be here any minute to drop the box off then get the hell out. After today, my old phone number is being disconnected, and I’ll only be using my new one.
I’m finishing up some paperwork when Connie buzzes me that the devil is here but refuses to leave the box. She wants to hand it to me personally. I just roll my eyes and pinch the bridge of my nose.
“All right, send her in.”
I stand up, making my way out from behind my desk. Natalia comes in with the box and sets it on the chair.
“Thank you. Now you can leave.”
As she takes a step toward me, I back up.
“Can we just talk for a moment?”
“There’s nothing to fucking talk about, Natalia. Now fucking leave!”
She is just fucking standing there when I hear the elevator ding and Nate and Eva saying hi to Connie. Nate comes running in. He runs straight for me and jumps in my arms.
“How’s my little man doing today?”
“Great! Mama let me help make sandwiches.”
Eva strolls in, looking like the goddess she is. When she sees Natalia, she stops.
“Oh gosh, I’m sorry. I didn’t know you were meeting anyone. Nate, sweetie, let’s wait a bit.”
“No, Eva, it’s fine. She was just leaving.”
“What the hell, Caden? I apologized numerous times, but I got replaced by her and some bratty kid? Are you kidding me?”
I walk around to my desk and hit the button for Connie.
“Connie, get security up here and the police.”
“Yes, sir.”
I motion for Eva to come in and hand Nate to her. I push them behind me, then I turn and take a step toward Natalia.
“I will say this one more time, Natalia. Leave now and don’t ever come back on these premises.”
Tank and Tony come in, and they are followed by police officers.
“Hello, officers. I want her removed from these premises and any properties I own.”
After they write up their paperwork, they hand her copies and explain that once she is outside she cannot come back or she will be arrested.
They take their leave, and she is standing between my guards, folding the paperwork and sticking it in her purse.
“Caden, you can’t do this! Did you forget who my father is?”
I look at Eva and motion for her to cover Nate’s ears.
I quickly stride up to Natalia and get eye level with her. “Listen, you little bitch. I know exactly who your father is, but what you obviously forgot is I own his fucking ass. I own his businesses. I own his buildings and he fucking owes me money.
“So now that you want to act high and mighty… I guess it’s time I go collect from dear old Daddy. Tank, why don’t we pay her father a little visit later.”
“You wouldn’t!”
“Fucking try me! Now get the fuck off of my property. Oh, and tell Rick hi for me.”
With that, my boys grab her arms and march her down to the elevator and out of the building. I stand back up, adjusting my suit, and turn toward Eva and Nate.
“Eva, baby, I’m really sorry you had to witness that. I’m usually not that kind of guy. Let’s just eat lunch.”
I pull a chair around for Eva so she can sit next to me. The moment I sit in my chair, Nate jumps up on my lap, and I quickly clear off my desk as he helps Eva pull out the sandwiches, chips, and drinks and sets them out for everyone to eat.
Nate is telling me about his whole day playing while we eat. Nico and Uncle Frankie built race cars with him and then raced them around the house.
While I am listening and looking at him while eating, I see Eva out of the corner of my eye and wink at her. She quickly looks away blushing and I can’t help but smile.
Once everyone is done eating, I have Connie get Nate for a few minutes so I can talk with Eva.
“Eva, I want to explain everything, so there’s no questions or concerns. Especially about Natalia.”
“You don’t have to explain anything.”
“Eva, baby, please… I was dating her, but we broke up the night before I met you. There will never be anything between us because that evening and the next day she showed her true colors. She was only with me for status and the money.”
“Can I ask why you broke up?”
I smile at her as I watch her take a sip of her drink.
“She yelled her boyfriend’s name during sex.”
Well, she, of course, spits out her drink. Her eyes go wide, and she covers her mouth.
“Oh my God, I’m so sorry!” She jumps up, starting to try to clean off my desk.
I laugh, grabbing her around the waist and pulling her to me as I stare into her eyes. I hit the buzzer on my phone.
“Connie, can you have a cleaning crew come up to clean my desk?”
Nate, giggling, responds, “Sure thing, boss!”
Eva and I start giggling, then I look into her eyes. I place my hand on her cheek and she closes her eyes, leaning into my hand.
She is beyond stunning and fits me perfectly. Five foot, six inches. Slim but has the perfect ass and breasts. Brown, curly hair that falls halfway down her back. Piercing green eyes. She’s absolutely perfect. My goddess.
I slowly lower my face to her and give her the softest kiss, and she deepens it. I snake my hands into her hair and hold her tight against me. My pants start getting tight and, based on her breath hitching, I’m sure she can tell.
We start to pull back when the door flies open, and Nate holds the door for the cleaning crew. I give Eva a quick kiss on the forehead and walk with her and Nate toward my door.
As we walk out, they head to the elevator and I wave at them when they enter and it closes. I turn around and see Connie grinning from ear to ear.
“I really like her, and her boy is so cute! How did you meet them?”
“It’s a crazy story, Connie!”
So, I break down the story while she sits in shock as tears roll down her cheeks. When I finish, I tell her the craziest part.
“She’s Frankie’s lost sister!”
“No fucking way!”
“Yes! Speaking of, can you have the two rooms next to mine at the mansion made over for Nate and Eva? For Nate, let’s do a train theme, and for Eva, a Paris theme. Also, get my jeweler on the phone. I want to get Eva something special.”
“You got it.”
I head back into my office. When Connie tells me the jeweler is on the phone, I pick up and explain that I want some kind of heart necklace and ask him to bring what he has.
I then call down to Human Resources and tell them to give Connie a raise. She has earned it!
When I get back to work, the time flies by. I’m interrupted sometime later by Connie telling me that the jeweler has arrived. I tell her to send him in, and I go and sit on my couch.
He walks in, shakes my hand, and opens his briefcase. As I look at the different pieces, there’s one that catches my eye right away. It’s perfect! It’s a small diamond heart surrounded by diamond teardrops, making it look like a sun.
“This is it! Pack it up. Here’s my card.”
After he puts it in a velvet case, he takes and runs my card. When he takes his leave, Connie comes running in to see what I got. I open it and she gasps while covering her mouth.
“Oh my goodness, it’s gorgeous!”
“It’s perfect! Eva already has my heart, and Nate is the sun in my life.”
I sit back at my desk. I set the gift bag with the necklace down and finish the paperwork I have, throwing it in my outbox. I check my watch and see it’s already 4:30, and I say fuck it, I’m leaving early.
I grab the gift bag and see the box still sitting on the chair. I take a look inside and see stuff that I don’t even recognize. I put a sign on it that says trash, and I head out of my office toward the elevator.
“Connie, I will see you tomorrow!”
“See you in the morning.”
When the elevator opens, I quickly jump in, hit the twenty-nine button, and wait. The elevator slowly gets to the floor and opens. I’ve barely stepped out when Nate comes running and barreling into my legs.
I squat down, picking him up as he throws his arms around my neck, hugging me. I walk into the kitchen, setting the gift and Nate down on the counter.
“So, how well did the afternoon go?”
“Good. Mama and I made dinner, and she said it will be done in about twenty minutes.”
“Where is your mom at?”
“She’s in the shower really quick.”
“Hey, we are leaving and will be back in the morning. Nico is staying tonight,” Frankie says.
“All right, man. Go see your parents and show them pics.”
While we are talking, Eva comes walking in. She hugs Frankie and comes over to stand next to me and Nate. As my men take their leave, I feel a tug on my sleeve from Nate.
“What is that?” Pointing at the gift bag.
“It’s something special for your mom.”
She looks at me wide-eyed as Nate grabs it and moves it in front of his mom.
“Open it, Mom! Open it!”
Eva looks at me and back at the bag as she slowly reaches in and pulls out the gift box. Her hands start shaking as she slowly opens it, and she gasps while covering her mouth as tears start falling.
“Oh, Mama. It’s so pretty! Don’t cry. It’s okay.”
I grab Eva around her waist and pull her to me as she buries her face in my chest and cries.
“I can’t. It’s too much.”
“Eva, you’re worth it! Don’t ever think you aren’t. I care so much for you and Nate. I want you here in my life! I don’t care what I have to do to keep you in it. I know this whole thing is crazy but I cannot imagine you two not being with me.”
She slowly nods her head as I take the necklace out and step behind her. I place it around her neck, latching the clasp.
When I finish, I lean down and kiss her neck, which in turn sends a shiver down her body. I wrap my arms around her waist and lean to whisper in her ear.
“Eva, you will never have to worry about where you will go ever again. I want you to be mine. I want Nate to be mine. Eva, I have fallen—and fallen hard—for you two.
“I cannot imagine living my life without you two in it! I love both of you with everything I have, and I will spend the rest of my life proving it.”
She turns around with tears falling, looking at me in shock at my confession. She looks at Nate who is grinning from ear to ear.
“Mama, you look so pretty!”
He leans over, touching the necklace. He then sits back up and leans forward against my chest, and I wrap my arms around him, kissing his head. We are standing there when the oven dings announcing that dinner is ready.
Eva spins around, grabbing the oven mitts and running toward the stove. She pulls out a casserole that smells fucking amazing. We wait for it to cool off while we get the table set and ready.
When I sit down, Nate climbs in my lap to eat, and I let out a chuckle. It’s become such a normal thing now we just set his plate next to mine.
We sit eating dinner, talking about the day, and decide that after, we will pop popcorn and head to the entertainment room to watch a movie. By the time we finish dinner, Nate has decided we are going to watch Cars, which is fine with me.
We change into our pajamas and enter the entertainment room. We all sit on the couch with blankets and snuggle to watch the movie. About halfway through, Nate has already crashed. So, Eva takes the time to talk to me.
“Thank you for the necklace. It’s absolutely gorgeous.”
“You’re welcome.”
I pick up Nate to take him to bed. “I chose that one because you have my heart, and Nate is my sun.”
She stares at it, then at me as I walk out, taking Nate up the stairs. I hear the TV shut off then she trails behind us going up the stairs.
I walk into Nate’s room and lay him down, tucking him in, and giving him a kiss. I stand back up and walk toward the door when Eva stops me, giving me a smile.
“I don’t know what to say.”
I put my hand on her cheek, looking into her eyes. “Eva, you don’t have to say anything. The only thing I would want to hear is that you love me and that you will be mine. I know that will take time, and I’m willing to wait.”
She stares at me as I kiss her forehead and walk out the door to my bedroom. I open the door and walk in, shutting it behind me as I make my way over to my bed and sit on the edge. Thinking how fucking crazy this all is and what I just said.
How hard I’ve fallen for this girl and her kid. I walk into the bathroom, quickly showering and tossing on some shorts. I shut off my light and climb in bed to go to sleep. About ten minutes later, I hear my door slowly open and shut. I lift my head to see Eva walking in.
“Eva, baby, is everything okay?”
“Yeah. I just want to stay in your room.”
I open my arms and she walks over, climbing under the covers and snuggling in my arms. We’re drifting off when I hear my door open again. I look over and I see my little man slowly walking in.
“Come on, Nate.”
He comes running over and slowly climbs in between me and his mom and falls asleep quickly. I lie there, looking at my girl and my boy, and I cannot imagine them not being here. I gotta give Jack a call. He’s gonna flip.
