Prologue

Her name was Lyric Johannes. She was an alpha female, a warrior wolf with a purpose. She had just defeated an alpha king in the Americas and was journeying to Europe. Her alpha king mate was by her side, ready to start a new life with him and his packs.

Lyric was a beacon of justice and equality. She fought not only for the female wolves but for all those who had been made to feel less than worthy. She was determined to shatter centuries-old rules and shake the other alphas to their core.

Her new mission in life was to ensure the safety and protection of the paranormal population. She envisioned a world where every species coexisted peacefully and with trust. It was a challenging path, but one she was ready to tread with the help of the Goddess.

The Goddess would bless her with the powers to unite the packs and banish the evil threatening to expose them. In doing so, she would also safeguard the human population. She was the warrior luna, and her name would echo through the ages.

England

A week had passed since I’d defeated Leandre and discovered my mate, Kaizer, the king of the European wolves. We’d packed up, I’d withdrawn from school and was planning to transfer to a university in England.

My guys had come with me—Ridge, Jonah, Tyler, and Roman. Steve would follow soon. He was a teacher and was still educating the wolves in Roman’s pack. He was also assisting Roman in keeping the pack functioning while the guys accompanied me.

The flight had been six hours long. I was exhausted! I’d learned that we would have a three-hour drive once we landed in London. The Royal Pack was very remote, and the pack was well protected with a cloaking spell by a powerful coven of witches that also lived with them.

I sat in my seat and watched Kaizer on his laptop. Roman and Gunnar were discussing security protocol for when we arrived, and the guys were either napping or watching a movie.

Saying goodbye to my friends had been tough. Beth had cried, and Ben and Kevin had just shrugged their shoulders. They’d asked me to keep in touch, and Beth had told me to expect a wedding invitation for when she and Allen finally tied the knot.

I opened my backpack and pulled out my laptop. I opened an email from Alpha Carlyle. He’d wished me luck and informed me that my mother had returned to the Half Moon Pack at the invitation of Alpha Damien and former Luna Diana. This news made me happy. It was pretty much the only home pack my mother had. Her father had given up title to his pack years ago.

I checked for any emails from the college and found that my app, which I’d designed to identify losers, had earned me an A plus. My professor was impressed and encouraged me to seek further advice and legal counsel about the ramifications of possibly getting the app approved.

I closed my computer and leaned back. My eyes closed, and I took a deep breath. I tuned my hearing to hear Roman speak in hushed tones to Gunnar.

I could tell he had some concerns. Gunnar reassured him that the castle was well guarded, and security was very tight.

“Sadie. You’ve been silent this whole trip. Are you okay?” I asked my wolf.

“Just listening and learning, Lyric. The king is very uptight. His wolf keeps growling. Others may not hear him, but I do. He’s our mate after all. He is upset about something. Ludwig is being quiet aside from the growling at Kaizer,” Sadie informed me.

I looked over at him sitting alone and typing on his computer. There was a furrow across his brow. Blonde tendrils of hair fell across his eyes. With a hand, he pushed it aside and resumed typing. He seemed unsettled. I wanted to go over, push my own hand through his hair and soothe him.

Thinking it, I stood up and moved over to him.

As I took the seat next to him, he looked up with those very green eyes and smiled. “Hello,” he said softly. “Am I boring you, love?”

“No, not boring me. Worrying me. Is everything all right?”

He looked around then closed the laptop. “Not really. We have received another threat. The old packs are getting grumbly, and their alphas are threatening a revolt. I need to get home and set up meetings with other species to try and head this off.

“If nothing else, I need to warn them of the threat. The old alphas are wanting to expose all supernaturals. It will become a frenzy if that happens.”

He picked up my hand and kissed my knuckles. “I also need to introduce you to my son. He’s away at school but will be home this weekend on holiday.”

“I like kids. I’m less worried about him than I am about your pack. It’s like the largest in the world and I’m an American female wolf who happens to come over here to be the new luna. That is scary!”

He grinned. “Yeah, but you are so sexy and cool. They will love you. Especially when they meet Sadie as well.”

“Yes well…there is Sadie. She gets looks everywhere we go.”

“You, my love, do too. You just don’t realize how much. That beautiful white hair. Your bedroom blue eyes. The whole package is breathtaking.”

“You are biased! I’m your mate. You’re supposed to like how I look. I kinda like how you look too.” I leaned into him.

The Fasten Seat Belt light came on so we stored our stuff and prepared to land. He held my hand as we hit the ground and taxied to a private hangar where three SUVs were parked and waiting.

The crew opened the doors and lowered the stairs. Gunnar went down first with Roman following right behind. He motioned for me to follow him and Kaizer behind me. They hurried us to the first SUV and pushed us in the back. Gunnar got behind the wheel.

“The boys are following in the SUV behind us. The third is for luggage. You can relax. We’ll be at the pack in about three hours. If you’re hungry just let me know and we can go through a drive-thru and grab something,” Gunnar said, looking into the rearview mirror.

“I’m fine. Just looking forward to getting there. Sadie wants out. I sure hope you have a safe path to run,” I said to no one in particular.

It was Kaizer who answered. “If you can wait till after a shower and dinner, I’ll take you out.”

“Sounds perfect!”

He draped an arm around me and pulled me closer. I snuggled up next to him and stared out the window, watching as Gunnar maneuvered us through traffic until we were on a two-way road heading toward the countryside.
