CHARLOTTE
What did I call a kiss? Oh, Jackson Forbes. I smiled at him, undid my buckle, and moved over the top of him, pushing him back further into his seat.
Jackson’s eyes widened, as he didn’t expect me to be so forward.
I didn’t waste any time and threaded my hands through his hair as I devoured his lips. One of his warm hands glided around my waist, while the other firmly nestled at the nape of my neck. A low, guttural moan escaped his lips, filling the air with an undeniable hunger.
Our kiss, once tender, now ignited with an electrifying intensity. I inhaled sharply through my nostrils, feeling the rush of desire surge through my body. My tongue entwined with his, a dance that grew more fervent with each passing moment.
Pushing against the back of my mouth, he engaged in a passionate game of tongue tennis, sending waves of pleasure coursing through me.
Finally, we broke the kiss, which only lasted a matter of seconds, but seemed like forever. We were like two lovers kissing for the first time after being apart for so long. I had wondered what his lips would feel like against mine, and now I knew.
“Wow, that was some kiss.” His breathy tone matched his thumping heart.
A half smile, a smirk, came across my lips as I was pleased with myself. I played with his hair as we sat staring at each other.
Jackson peered over my shoulder.
“It’s getting heavier. We better move or we will both be stuck out here.”
I glanced around and saw the snow had completely covered the front windshield. The vehicle engine hummed idle as we sat together.
When I went to move off him, my ass hit the horn, making me jump before I burst out laughing. Jackson joined in and we sat in fits of giggles.
Finally composing ourselves and I was back in my seat, Jackson got out and cleared the windshield because of how much snow had fallen. He shook off what had laid on his jacket as he got in, then he set off again.
This time, Jackson wasn’t stopping for anything. We both just wanted to reach home safely now.
The snow was so heavy; we sat tense in the vehicle. I let Jackson concentrate as he drove, and I had still never answered his question.
It was a crawl back, but eventually we both sighed with relief as the first glimpses of the town appeared.
“We made it.” I smiled across at Jackson, which made him smile.
“I’ll park up and help you take your things across.”
“I’ll be fine. I can manage.” There were so many thoughts running through my head, I needed space to figure things out.
Plus, I didn’t want Mom to have another reason to have a go at me. She hated the Forbes family, especially Frankie, his dad.
Jackson rolled his eyes at me, and I stuck my tongue out at him. He parked in his driveway, secured the handbrake and killed the engine.
He pulled my things out of the back and took them across to my house opposite his. Then dropped them in the doorway.
“So…are you free later?” He ran his hand down my back to my ass. “Will I have the pleasure of your ass sitting on me again?” He smirked.
I opened my mouth, fully intending on giving him a mouthful, when the front door opened. Mom stood there and gawked at us.
“Charlotte? Oh my goodness, I didn’t think you were coming until tomorrow. This is such a surprise. Tom, Charlotte is here with her boyfriend.” Mom tried to hide her dislike that I’d even considered turning up with a stranger, especially at Christmas.
I had never gotten around to telling my parents that I had left Scott completely, as everything had been so sudden. They had never met him, so were none the wiser that Jackson wasn’t him.
“Oh, come in, you two. I wish you had said you were both coming. I guess you won’t need a spare room since you have been living together, anyway.” She smiled, but the glare behind her eyes told me she wasn’t happy one bit.
I was just about to correct her when her dad came in and gave me a hug. “You look good, sweetheart. It’s nice the department let you leave and be able to come home for a change.” He planted a kiss on my cheek.
Dad was the loving one, and the main reason I came home.
“Yes, well, there was nearly a last-minute reschedule, but I got out of there as quickly as I could.”
“You work too hard, my love. Go take your stuff to your room and we will get the kettle on. I’m sure you are both gagging on a decent cuppa?” Dad winked at me, then glanced at Jackson with a smile.
Before I had a chance, both my parents disappeared, leaving me standing with Jackson. Jackson lifted my bottom jaw up with his finger and shut my mouth.
He took my hand and told me to lead the way to our room.
“Jackson, what are you doing?” It was a loud whisper as I glared at him.
“I want to see where my girlfriend and I will be sleeping.” He smirked, and I knew he loved winding me up.
He thought it would be funny to play along with my parent’s suggestion. They obviously had no clue who he was.
He pulled at my bottom lip with his finger and thumb as I chewed on it again. Grabbing the case, he carried it up the stairs to my room.
The layout was pretty similar to his, even though he had never stepped foot in my house before. I picked up the other two bags and scurried up the stairs after him.
In my room, there wasn’t much in it apart from the bed, side table, and walk-in closet. Jackson stood in front of the window, looking across at his home.
His parents would no doubt have seen him arrive and go across here. I bet Frankie will have a laugh when Jackson tells him.
I dumped the bags down before turning Jackson around. “What the hell, Jackson?”
“What do you mean?” A cheeky smile formed on his lips.
“Why did you let them think you were my boyfriend?” I prodded his chest.
“Aww, are you dumping me?”
I hit his chest. “We were never together.”
Jackson tucked a piece of hair behind my ear. “Well, that kiss you gave me told me a whole different story.”
“Your kiss was lousy, so I had to show you what a proper kiss was. You would think you’ve never kissed a girl before.” I answered quickly, but my cheeks flushed red as the thought of his lips on mine again crept up into my mind.
Jackson lifted my chin up, so I was looking at him. He took in a sharp breath as our eyes met. “You know I could make you my girlfriend for real and then you could have as many kisses as you want.”
He teased, then leaned in so his lips nearly touched mine. “If you were really lucky, I might let you get to second base.” His own breathing matched mine as we stood together.
“Stop joking, I can’t. Just leave,” I begged him before things turned into a disaster.
“What are you afraid of, Charlotte?” He pulled me in closer to him again.
“You know why.” I pushed him away.
“Please, I’ll set things straight with my parents. Thank you for helping me.” I needed to sort out my thoughts first.
Being with Jackson made me feel different, and I craved more, but I had just escaped a messy relationship. I hoped he would understand.
