I was wrapping up my final appointment of the day when Mrs. Smith finally exited my office. As I reached to close the door behind her, a familiar hand forcefully pushed it open.

Elliot didn’t sit down immediately. Instead, he watched me for a long moment, his eyes scanning my face as if he could see right through me. Then, with calculated movements, he sat on the dentistry chair.
