Talia
Talia started to get a searing headache as the water filled her body and she tried to save herself.
She let herself go…
Talia woke up, coughing up a lot of water, She felt air being breathed into her lungs. Her eyes were opened slightly, and she knew it was Axel.
He was still pumping her chest and giving her mouth-to-mouth. She gasped hard and inhaled.
Axel picked her up and put her in the passenger seat without saying anything.
He climbed in the driver’s seat, starting the engine and bringing the car to life.
He didn’t say anything, and Talia just closed her eyes. When they got to where they were going, she felt herself being lifted again.
Axel was so much warmer than she was, even though they had both been in the water. He carried her so delicately, telling the nurses to prepare some bathwater with salts and herbs for her.
When it was ready, he left her in the nurses’ care without saying a word to her at all.
She told the nurses that she could bathe herself, so they left her alone in the room, but waited outside in case she needed anything. Talia stood up shakily. She stripped herself of her clothes and got into the bathtub.
There was a huge contrast in temperature. She laid back in the bathtub to soak in the water.
Her body ached from hitting the water and sinking. She massaged her body, not wanting to get cramps again, or—even worse—not being able to feel her legs or walk.
After spending a full hour in the bathtub, she got out and dried herself off. Putting on her bathrobe, she went to blow-dry her hair.
After her hair was dry, she put on warm and fluffy pajamas. She snuggled into them comfortably.
“Ma’am, your dinner is ready,” one of the nurses called through the door.
When Talia got downstairs, she found Axel and Melissa laughing— over what, she didn’t know.
