Time Is Up

I was restlessly pacing within the confines of Alpha Jamerson’s pack office. I found him easy to manipulate, especially since those filled with hatred were more susceptible to my influence. After losing to Alpha Hawk and that infuriating wolf Aurora, I was left seething. She had taken what was rightfully mine. I was still in disbelief that she had consumed his heart. It was supposed to be mine.

My journey began in the coven, where I eavesdropped on a conversation between Mrs. Heroux and one of the elders. I had been particularly sneaky that day, and after escaping from my teacher, I found myself lurking outside their window. School was never my thing, especially when I had to hide my true identity and pretend that vampires didn’t exist.

Vampires had been in hiding for centuries, blending in with the humans. Werewolf blood was our life source, and I craved more of it.

They were discussing the protection of a human girl, the first female born from the Conri bloodline. I didn’t understand what they were talking about at first, but then I heard about a king in stasis somewhere. A king who could shift the balance of power between werewolves and vampires. This was my opportunity to seize control and become the most powerful vampire in history.

I wasn’t the type to sit around and wait for things to happen. I needed to take action, but I also needed allies, people who could take the fall if things went south. Lucinda was always around me. I think she had feelings for me, and Athan was always nearby. No one would probably notice if we disappeared, and that’s when we met a guy named Ozworld. I didn’t believe in coincidences until then. It felt like fate.

At first, we followed him around like lost puppies; we were his pawns in his quest for power. Little did he know, it only helped me understand the werewolves better and realize their weaknesses. They had councils and rules to follow. It all seemed pointless to me.

I didn’t care about Ozworld. He could take the blame for everything that had happened. But now, I understood that I could control the werewolves and their packs by drinking the alpha’s blood.

Draven was my first target. He was so eager to please Ozworld, but he was oblivious to my plans. My takeover was thwarted. I kept testing new packs, seeing how much control I could exert over them.

Alpha Hawk and his newly formed team were becoming a nuisance, so I retreated, moving farther away. That’s how I discovered the Scarred Rebels Pack, who lived up to their name. They were ruthless, rebellious, and perfect for infiltration, especially when I found out that this was where Alpha Hawk found his mate.

A plan began to form in my mind, and Alpha Jamerson was the perfect accomplice to help me take down Alpha Hawk and his pack.

“We’ll attack the Red River Pack with full force. That will draw them out and bring Alpha Hawk to us. You should have killed that bitch years ago,” I said, running a finger down Alpha Jamerson’s chest. I figured if I could break the weakest link, then Alpha Hawk would be easy to take down.

My veins were pulsing with the alpha blood I had just consumed from him. The best part about them being werewolves was that the bite marks healed instantly. His eyes turned black, and his wolf growled at me from within.

“What about Alpha Draven?” he asked, his voice filled with contempt.

“I’ve got him with some humans I’ve brainwashed. Alpha Hawk will want to protect them, so Draven will attack from the top of the Greystone Ridge pack. We’ll surround them. There will be no escape, not even for that bitch Aurora. I want her taken out as soon as possible.”

“Then I’ll go take her out,” he said, his wolf half showing its face. Gunnolf was a ruthless beast, a match for Hawk. My only concern was Aurora; she was unlike any other, but I decided to keep that information to myself. She had recently given birth, and I was hoping that would make her an easier target; her mind would be elsewhere.

“When do we go?” he asked, gruffly.

“I have Lucinda with Draven, so I’ll let her know we’re going in first. Once Hawk leaves to help the Red River Pack, she’ll swoop in. While everyone else is distracted, you find Aurora and take her out, then you can kill the luna,” I instructed Alpha Jamerson, feeling a surge of anger.

I had been away from Draven for too long and needed his blood to maintain control. Lucinda wasn’t mentally strong enough to manipulate everyone in his pack, and the others were useless. Once I was close enough, I’d leave Jamerson and feed on Draven enough to keep him and his pack under my control.

“Gather enough men and we’ll leave today, and tomorrow we fight,” I ordered him. He raised his fist in the air and roared, ready for battle.

About fifty men transformed into wolves and we ran, crossing the lands. Any humans in our way would be torn apart.

As we neared the territory of the Red River Pack, a howl alerted us; they knew we were coming. “This is it, men, attack and leave no wolf standing,” I commanded through Alpha Jamerson.

The screams of terrified humans echoed through the forests as we ran past them. I couldn’t help but laugh at how sheltered their lives had been. I wasn’t interested in them, and we charged in full force. The few scouts around Alpha Alex’s pack responded with snarls, barks, and howls. I bet he regretted siding with Hawk now!

I left with Alpha Jamerson, leaving the others to take down Alpha Alex. I sensed Lucinda nearby and told her to hold off for a bit longer. “Where’s Draven?” I asked when I reached her.

“They’re waiting on the other side of that ridge. It’s hard to hide thirty stinking barbaric wolves,” she retorted.

I rolled my eyes at her and took off. My blood, now filled with alpha blood, would make me invincible. The smell of sweaty, unwashed wolves filled the air as they waited for instructions. When I arrived, Alpha Draven tried to speak, but I silenced him, grabbing his neck and sinking my teeth into his veins. The rush that filled me reconnected me with his pack and the hungry wolves were ready for their part. I couldn’t read their minds, only sense a connection, but through Alpha Draven, I could command and control them, just like Alpha Jamerson and his pack.

He signaled me that Alpha Hawk had gathered his men and was leaving to help the Red River Pack. I smirked, my plan was coming together nicely this time.

“Alpha Draven, it’s time. Send in your wolves,” I ordered. It was time for payback.
