SEASON 2
Lilac
Lilac was blindfolded.
The gentle, but firm hand of her mate, Alpha Kyril, was her only guide. The sound of their footsteps resonated as they walked down a long corridor.
“Where are we going?” she asked impatiently.
“I told you. It’s a surprise,” the deep-voiced lycan replied.
It felt as if they had been walking for days. In the month since they’d marked each other, her lover never ceased to amaze her.
The life she once lived and the person she once was seemed a lifetime ago. The girl who was once content locking herself in her room, hidden away from the world, was now on full display for everyone to see.
She held the title of Luna and was therefore responsible for the lives and wellbeing of her newly adopted wolf pack.
“You’re walking me in circles. I know it,” she playfully goaded.
“Patience, my love,” he coolly whispered in her ear. “We’re almost there.”
His breath sent shivers down her spine.
The anticipation was killing her!
Just then, her mate came to a stop.
“We’re here,” Kyril murmured.
Lilac jumped at the unexpected sound of a door opening.
As he guided her inside, she was enveloped with an all-too-familiar earthy smell.
Can it be?
The blindfold fell around her neck as Kyril loosened the knot.
She gasped.
Before her was a great hall that seemed to go on forever. And in it…books. Endless rows of books that ascended high into the rafters and beyond.
“It’s… it’s…!” Lilac stuttered in disbelief.
“It’s for you.” Kyril smirked, proud of his accomplishment.
“For me? But how did you…”
“The faes. I had them work their magic. The door was cast with an enchantment spell to mask it from sight,” he said as he took her hand and led her farther inside.
“I made it so you couldn’t hear a thing. I had these manuscripts brought in from every corner of the world. Some are over 800 years old, maybe older.”
“This is incredible,” she said as she took the nearest book off a shelf and ran her hand along its leather-bound cover. “I’ve never seen anything like it! I don't know what to say…”
Kyril wrapped his strong arms around her waist, bringing her in close.
“You don't have to say anything.”
“Thank—” Lilac was barely able to utter before being interrupted by a kiss. She melted into his arms—the one place she truly felt safe. Lilac stepped back and looked around the room in wonder.
“There’s enough reading here to last me a lifetime.”
“Now that you're marked, you’ll be able to read it all for many lifetimes—endless lifetimes!”
It was still hard to wrap her head around the concept. As exciting as the prospect was, she couldn’t help but also be frightened by it.
She wondered whether these books, as countless as they might be, would be enough to sustain her as she passed through eternity.
But when she looked into her mate’s eyes, she was reminded of the love she felt for him and knew that alone would sustain her for any length of time. And the way he gazed into her eyes…
“I bet we’d have adorable pups,” he let out.
She loosened her grip.
“Me, a father, and you, a mother with a litter of our own…I think it sounds nice,” he said warmly.
Lilac backed away, growing uncomfortable.
“It’s not that I don’t want to eventually…” she replied. “It’s just…I mean…I’m not even nineteen yet. There’s still so much I want to see and do,” she said as she began to nervously pace up and down along an aisle of books.
“I’m not saying we have them right now…just sometime. If you wanted, that is,” he said, trying to break the tension.
She couldn’t tell.
The last thing she’d ever want to do is break his heart. Passing on his bloodline meant everything to him. And it meant so much that, of all people, he wanted it to be with her.
While they were both blessed with the gift of everlasting life, she knew they could wait only so long before they wouldn’t be able to bear children. Immortal or not, they were both still bound to the same rules of parenthood as everyone else.
And with Kyril already thirty-two years of age, he didn’t have much longer before his time was up. Breeding became harder the older an individual got, whether they were lycan or not.
Lilac’s breathing began to intensify.
A familiar touch brushed against her forearm, and she stopped. Kyril rested his palm against her soft cheek.
“You’re ready when you’re ready. And, no. My mother was wrong.” He smirked. “You and I were meant to be. Always. Just as goddess Selene intended.”
Lilac sighed. “You read my mind again,” she said with a scowl.
“Sorry. I was worried. You were getting worked up. Next time I promise to ask you first before I secretly read your mind,” he said with a grin.
Lilac playfully smacked his firm pecs.
“Or maybe don’t secretly read my mind at all? And don’t make promises you can’t keep!”
“I promise,” he playfully replied before kissing her deeply.
She loved it when he kissed her. It made her feel like she was the only person in the world. And the funny thing about it, she knew that in his mind, she was.
Lilac felt her face turn warm and cheeks flush red when he pulled back and looked deeply into her eyes. She knew that he loved it when she got flustered, which made her even more embarrassed.
She looked away.
“Stop it,” she said, biting her lip.
“Stop what?”
“The way you’re looking at me!”
“I can’t. You’re too irresistible,” he said as he leaned in and kissed her again. She felt him getting hard. He pressed up against her and whispered into her ear, “I want you…right now.”
“Here?!” she exclaimed, her voice echoing through the great hall. She covered her mouth, sure that someone else could hear. “We’re in a library!”
Kyril chuckled. “Don’t worry. There’s no one else around. We don't have to be quiet,” he said eagerly as he pulled her even closer.
Their bodies became locked together as they began to slowly rub against one another. Before she knew it, her skirt was pulled up and her legs were wrapped around his waist as he effortlessly lifted her.
He pressed her up against a nearby bookshelf as he began to grind into her, knocking books to the floor with every thrust.
They both laughed at the mess they were making.
This was another thing she loved about what they had. They could be intimate but still laugh. She knew the bond they had was unbreakable.
His lips made their way down her neck and beneath her shirt, his tongue slowly inching closer and closer toward the center of her breast. He lightly bit down as he reached his target, causing Lilac to moan louder than she intended.
Lilac covered her mouth. She still couldn’t get over the thrill of being in a library. She couldn’t take it any longer.
“I want to be inside you,” he said as he nibbled her ear. She felt his manhood getting even harder. She loved the effect she had on him.
His pants effortlessly slid down his legs until he were fully exposed.
His erection began to work its way toward her center as he slid her underwear to the side, his member gently massaging the outside of her velvet sheath. She couldn’t get over how amazing it always made her feel, all the way to her core.
KYRIL
He saw her eyes roll back as he began to undulate harder. He felt she was almost ready.
As she leaned back, her shirt fell off her shoulder, revealing the bite marks he’d once left, driving him even wilder.
“I want to take you,” he cooed as she lost all inhibitions. “Let’s shift!”
But during mid-shift, just as he was about to enter her, a voice called to him via a psychic link.
Kyril sighed as he began to reluctantly shift back to human form and pull away.
Lilac looked at him, concerned, shifting back too.
“What is it?” she said worriedly. “Did I do something wrong?” she asked as she heavily panted.
“Of course not.” Kyril smiled. “You could never do wrong by me.”
Kyril kissed her on the forehead.
“Stay here. I’ll be right back,” he said as he reluctantly set her feet back onto the cobblestone floor. “We’re not finished.” Her legs were still weak, and he watched her sink to the ground as he made himself look presentable.
“Is somebody here?”
“Just stay put. I’ll return in a minute,” he said as he closed the door behind him, leaving the room.
Lilac
She knew his duties as Alpha were important, but she sometimes wished he felt the desire to be more open with her.
She decided to follow her mate and see what he was up to.
Kyril’s distinct scent, a masculine musk that smelled of the damp earth and fallen leaves of the forest, led her down a long hallway and out into the main corridor of their residence. She loved the way he smelled. When he wasn’t around, she’d sometimes open up his wardrobe and bask in the aroma left behind on his clothes.
But as she quietly approached, she caught a whiff of a different odor…something cold and sterile. Not unpleasant, just different. Harsh.
She stopped behind a corner before reaching the entrance. As she peeked around, she saw a man she had never seen before standing in the doorway in front of her mate. His blond hair and blue eyes were very distinct.
“Alpha Maxwell Evergreen,” Kyril said as he reached out to shake his hand. “It’s good to see you again.”
But as they shook, the stranger’s eyes looked beyond Kyril’s and met Lilac’s.
They were piercing. As if he could see directly into her soul.
It made her tremble.
But why?
