Chapter 4

SLOAN

Sloan sat in a dark corner of the VIP lounge, which was the perfect vantage point to watch the club from.

Tristan was already six drinks in and chatting with the bartender, while Declan was on the dance floor with several human women dancing around him.

The bass from the sound system brought a little relief to Sloan, as it distracted him from his sexual discomfort.

…But only for a little while. It suddenly returned full force, overheating his entire body and knocking the air out of him. He pulled at his collar, trying to cool his hot body.

Even his wolf was whining in pain. But suddenly the whines turned into growls, and every hair on his body rose in warning.

“Clubbing without me?” Elizabeth cooed.

Her voice, however, sounded like someone had thrown a bag full of nails down a running garbage disposal. Her mere presence made him feel like he was being doused with a bucket of ice water.

“You can’t take a hint, can you?” Sloan and his wolf growled.

“A year and a half together, and you resort to giving me the cold shoulder, instead of being a man and just saying it?” she snapped.

“Fine. We’re through. Happy?”

She gasped and clenched her drink in her hand. “No, I am not. What did I do wrong?”

Sloan glanced at her cup before staring Elizabeth dead in the eye.

“Don’t even think about doing what you’re thinking about doing. And to answer your question, you did absolutely nothing wrong. I’ve simply grown tired of you.”

Sloan hoped that lying would be better than the truth.

“Grown tired of me?! That’s bullshit! Just last night, I had you—”

“Elizabeth, don’t mistake my sexual interest in you for anything more than that.”

Sloan grabbed her hand before she could dump her drink on him. Just as quickly, he seized her other hand as she tried to slap him.

“Walk away,” he said quietly, yet menacingly.

“You will regret this,” she growled, shaking off his hold.

“You heard him. Walk away,” Declan warned as he materialized next to them, placing his body between them.

Elizabeth stuck out her chest and turned away.

“Told you, she’s toxic.”

“I need…”

“A drink?” Tristan said as he handed Sloan a glass of Scotch. “Don’t worry. I’ll handle her for you.”

Before Sloan could answer him, the music changed, and the DJ called out, “Give it up for Trouble and her friend Mouse!”

The three of them turned as one to look down at the main floor. Two women were standing on one of the dancers’ elevated platform tables, giving the crowd a very erotic dance show.

Sloan gazed at the tiny angel dressed in pink, and his wolf growled obsessively.

As if she sensed him, she glanced up, and her eyes clashed with his. Glancing at her, he felt his member hardening as it sought sexual release with her.

His wolf sighed with relief, as if he’d found what he’d been looking for all day long.

“Like what you see?” He heard her sweet voice clearly in his thoughts.

He smiled. “Why yes, I do,” he replied. ~“Hello, sweet angel.”~

From a distance, he saw her eyes widen, and she quickly turned to her friend and whispered in her ear before leaving the platform and hurrying away through the crowd.

MYRA

Three rounds of rainbow Jell-O shots, four tequila shots, and two Long Island iced teas later, Megan was leading them to the middle of the dance floor. She walked up to a dancer and tapped her calf.

“Bless your heart, Trouble. I need a fifteen-minute break.”

“Perfect. Because that’s all the time I need.” Megan smiled mischievously as the girl climbed down. “Come on, Myra. Up you go.”

“Wait, what? Meg…”

“Come on.” Megan laughed as she pulled Myra up onto the platform. She made a signal to the DJ, and the music changed.

“Give it up for Trouble and her friend Mouse!” the DJ announced over the sound system.

Megan grabbed a handful of Myra’s hair and whispered into her ear.

“Let’s give them a show, hot stuff.”

Myra smiled as the alcohol finally started to affect her judgment.

When the song began to play, Myra suddenly felt brave and took control.

She pushed Megan’s hand out of her hair and turned her around. She then bent her over and held on to her hips as Megan ground her butt into Myra’s front.

The crowd around them went wild.

Thank goodness Ivy doesn’t allow phones or cameras.

Suddenly she felt a wave of pure sexual energy shoot through her body. She kept on dancing, but she glanced around, trying to find the source.

Her gaze briefly clashed with someone up in the VIP lounge, and her body temperature increased.

“Like what you see?” She blushed, assuming her thoughts were her own.

“Why yes, I do.” His smooth answer echoed in her alcohol-clouded mind.

“Shit,” she muttered as her eyes widened in shock. She quickly turned her back to him and threw her arms around Megan’s shoulder to whisper in her ear.

“It’s a little warm in here. I’m going for a breather outside.”

“Do you—?” Megan started, but Myra placed a finger on her lips to stop her.

“No, you stay here. Have fun. I’ll be right back.”

Megan nodded, and Myra climbed down from the platform. She fought her way through the crowd, rejecting many offers to dance in the process.

She could feel the stranger’s eyes following her until she disappeared through the entrance.

“Hey Billy, I’m just stepping out for some fresh air,” Myra said to the bouncer as she exited the main doors. Billy nodded and placed a stamp on her hand.

Myra walked off to the side of the building. The cool night air felt wonderful against her heated skin. She removed her cell phone, which she’d secured to her upper thigh.

2 a.m. Only Megan can make

Myra’s thoughts were interrupted by an eerie feeling that someone was watching her. The hairs on the back of her neck rose, and chills ran down her spine. Her vixen self wanted her to be alert.

It was the same presence she’d felt earlier, when she’d first gotten to school. She looked down the dark alley, switching to her night vision. She could just make out a figure hunched over.

“Such pretty eyes,” someone growled as an animal pounced at her.

Myra’s animal instinct took over, and she shifted just as the animal collided with her.
