The Alpha and Luna Series: Un Natale Speciale

«Buongiorno, Angelo,» disse Darren, dandomi un bacio sulle labbra.
Era appena tornato dall'allenamento. Nonostante non fosse più l'alfa del branco, continuava ad allenarsi ogni mattina con loro. Io non mi allenavo tutti i giorni, e ultimamente ancora meno. Preferivo trascorrere il tempo con i miei nipoti. Ma non in quel momento. Stavo lavorando a un nuovo progetto.
«Cosa stai facendo?» chiese Darren, indicando la lista che avevo sullo schermo del computer.
Sorrisi apertamente. Ero entusiasta di questa nuova idea. Anche Darren sorrise, probabilmente felice di vedermi così contenta.
«Voglio organizzare una festa di Natale.»
Il sorriso di Darren svanì. Aggrottai le sopracciglia vedendo che l'idea non gli piaceva.
«Non essere triste, Angelo. Siamo in pensione. Non dovremmo più fare feste,» disse Darren.
Rabbrividii quando mi baciò il collo. «Dovremmo concentrarci su altre cose.» Bacio. «Come il fatto che i nostri figli se ne sono andati.» Un altro bacio sul collo. «Quanto è silenziosa la casa ora.» I suoi baci si spostarono sulla clavicola. «Come posso sentire che mi desideri,» disse con voce profonda, mostrando che Goliath stava emergendo.
Il mio vestito finì presto sul pavimento. Darren aveva un occhio blu normale e uno blu brillante. Lui e Goliath erano entrambi in controllo. Mi prese in braccio e mi portò di sopra nella doccia.
«Sei pronta, piccola compagna?» Goliath non attese la mia risposta.
Dopo aver fatto l'amore più volte con Goliath e Darren, giacqui tra le braccia di Darren. Le sue dita si muovevano lentamente su e giù per il mio braccio. I brividi mi percorrevano la pelle, facendomi sentire serena.
«Possiamo fare una festa di Natale,» disse Darren tra i miei capelli. «Perché ci tieni tanto? È per qualcosa che hai visto nel futuro?»
Non avevo avuto visioni da anni. Pensavo che non ne avrei avute più dato che i nostri figli erano cresciuti con le loro famiglie. Ero convinta che poiché avevano le loro abilità speciali, le mie non fossero più necessarie. La Dea della Luna probabilmente rideva di me per aver pensato questo.
«Sì,» mi strinsi al suo petto. «È tutto sfocato. Non riesco a vederlo chiaramente. So solo che una delle mie figlie sta soffrendo. Sta soffrendo molto e mi chiama. Continua a dire 'Mamma, mamma, non so cosa fare'.»
«Non so quale ragazza sia però. Potrebbe essere Daniella, Dakota, Felicity o Mandy. Poi appaiono gli Anziani e la visione finisce. È confuso. Non ho mai avuto una visione che non riuscissi a capire. Per smettere di pensarci, voglio organizzare questa festa e divertirmi.»
Mi abbracciò più stretto. «Pensi che gli Anziani si stiano stancando del fatto che non mi unisco a loro? Potrebbero fare qualcosa a una delle nostre ragazze per costringermi a unirmi?» Chiese.
«Non credo. Devono ancora rispondere a Damion. Se fossero così pazzi da intromettersi con la nostra famiglia, lui non avrebbe problemi a farli fuori.»
Ero sicura di avere ragione, ma questa visione sfocata mi preoccupava. Una festa mi aiuterà a passare più tempo con le mie ragazze per capire chi sta soffrendo. Ma mi aiuterà anche a non pensare alla brutta sensazione che ho.
Più tardi quella sera, Felicity e i miei nipoti vennero a trovarmi.
«Nonna, nonna,» corsero verso di me.
Aprii le braccia mentre mi abbracciavano quasi facendomi cadere. Aaron rimase vicino a me mentre i suoi fratelli, Adonis e Alexa, andarono nella sala giochi. Era ora di iniziare a pianificare la mia festa.
«Felicity, voglio organizzare una festa di Natale. So che abbiamo meno di tre settimane per pianificare ma so che possiamo farcela.»
Felicity mi guardò attentamente. Aveva imparato a leggere i miei sentimenti come i miei figli. Mantenni un'espressione neutra, non lasciandole capire che sentivo di dover farlo. Dopo un momento di silenzio, acconsentì.
«Va bene, mamma. Dato che non abbiamo molto tempo forse possiamo chiedere aiuto a Daniella e Dakota. Così non ci sentiremo pressate a fare tutto. Voglio dire, ci saremmo già riuniti come famiglia per Natale, perché non renderlo speciale e passare più tempo insieme.»
Si stava entusiasmando solo a pensarci. Sapevo che pianificare sarebbe stato divertente. Fui d'accordo con lei e fissammo un appuntamento per andare a trovare le altre ragazze per parlare loro della festa.
Darren e Jaxon sembravano tristi mentre io e Felicity ci congedavamo. Stavamo andando nel Regno per vedere Daniella e farci aiutare a pianificare la festa. Avevamo già chiamato tutte le ragazze per la festa e tutte erano entusiaste di aiutare. Beh, tutte tranne Dakota. Cercava di sembrare felice, ma sapevo che c'era qualcosa che non andava in mia figlia.
Non ho cercato di farla parlare al telefono perché sapevo che non l'avrebbe fatto. Avrei aspettato di vederla e poi avremmo parlato. I miei figli sanno che non devono mai nascondermi nulla, né a me né a Darren. Ripensare alla telefonata con Dakota mi fece sentire la preoccupazione che avevo provato nella mia visione.
Devo aver mostrato i miei sentimenti perché Darren mi attirò tra le sue braccia. »Cosa c'è che non va, Angelo? Posso sentire la tua preoccupazione e la tua tristezza,» mi parlò nel collegamento mentale.
»Niente, tesoro.»
»Stai mentendo. Non ti lascerò andare finché non me lo dirai.»
«Te l'avevo detto che papà era peggio di me,» disse Jaxon a Felicity. «La sta tenendo stretta e non vuole lasciarla andare. Vorrei fare lo stesso.»
Felicity rise mentre baciava Jaxon. Jaxon aveva ragione a metà. Suo padre non voleva lasciarmi andare ma non per il motivo che pensava. L'unico modo per far stare meglio Darren era dirgli la verità. Comunque lo avrebbe preoccupato.
»Credo di sapere di quale figlia parla la visione, ma non ne sarò sicura finché non la vedrò.»
»Dimmelo.» Disse nel mio collegamento mentale appena finii di parlare.
»Dakota. La vedrò tra due giorni però. Non vuole parlare al telefono.» Gli dissi la verità.
»Fammi sapere appena la vedi. Farò teletrasportare Jaxon al suo branco quando arriverai lì.»
Annuii. Era inutile discutere con lui. Era in modalità papà, soprattutto perché Dakota era la più giovane dei nostri figli. Anche se non era più una bambina. Gli avrei detto quando sarei stata quasi lì così avrebbe potuto vederla anche lui.
