Chapter One
Book 4: Westyn
January, One Month Ago
Westyn
Being the President of a charter is tough, but being the President of all the charters is even tougher.
Seeing my brothers find their olâ ladies makes me yearn for one of my own. But being the olâ lady to the President isnât a piece of cake.
Iâm always being pulled away to fix something. The woman I need will have to be strong, ready to be the Queen. Sheâll also have to accept that I have a son.
We come as a package deal and I wonât settle for someone who wonât accept him. Heâs my world, and I wouldnât want it any other way.
When I first heard about Royal, I was in denial. I was sure he couldnât be mine because I always play it safe. Savannah used to be a club girl.
We kicked her out when we found out she was using drugs. We donât tolerate that kind of behavior here.
So, when she confronted me before we went to St. Thomas, I thought she was messing with me.
I denied it the whole time we were talking until she told me what she did to my condoms. She said she poked holes in each of them.
I knew I didnât have to worry about other women doing the same thing because the only club girl Iâve been with since Savannah arrived was her.
She wanted me to make her my olâ lady and I told her that wasnât going to happen. I also told her that I wanted a paternity test just to make sure he was mine.
I know how the club women can be. They want to snag one of the members and become an olâ lady, even if that means trapping them with a baby. I wasnât about to fall for that.
So, we waited for the baby to be born and had the paternity test done. He ended up being mine. I didnât want to take him away from his mother, but I had to.
After I got back from the trip, I went to the address that she had on file only to find out she didnât live there anymore. I had to track her down, and when I found her, she was living in a homeless shelter.
I offered to help her get a place, but she refused since it wasnât going to be my house. Royal ended up with Savannah for the first couple months of his life, living in a homeless shelter.
When we went to court, I asked for full custody. I found out that she relapsed after she gave birth and I wasnât going to have my son around that.
She didnât have a home, a job, or any means to raise him.
I offered to send her to a rehab center so she could at least have some contact with her son, but she refused. The judge granted me custody and I brought him home.
My mom and sister werenât very happy that I didnât tell them right away. Mom gave me a beating like she hadnât done since I was a kid for keeping this from her.
Aliana gave me the silent treatment for a while, but eventually came around. Iâm just glad she didnât shoot me in the ass again.
She said she would have, but she didnât want to lose a bet she had going on with Axyl.
When I got the call a few days ago about Posey, I had just gotten to sleep after getting a very fussy and sick Royal to bed.
He hadnât been feeling well for a couple of days, but Hannah said it was just a cold. Even the ob-gyn at the clinic said the same thing.
Royal hasnât been sleeping very well, so that means that his dad hasnât been sleeping well either. But when duty calls, I get up and handle my business.
I took Royal over to Aliana and Axylâs and went to the clubhouse. Once everyone showed up, Eliot informed us all about the text that Alanis, his olâ lady, had gotten.
We made a plan and took off. The only thing we found there was Megan, Triggerâs ex, beaten to within an inch of her life. Weâre waiting for her to wake up to see if she can give us any information.
Until then, Iâm on my way to Mayor Bordersâ home to see if he can help. Heâs not in the office today, so I have to go to his house.
The MC and mayor work closely together. We all help to plan the charities and keep the town safe for the families who live here.
âCome on, buddy. Letâs get to the mayorâs house,â I tell my nine-month-old son.
He just coos as I pick him up and carry him to the truck. Iâve found itâs easier to just leave his seat in the truck and carry him in.
I make sure to grab my keys, phone, and the diaper bag before walking out the door and locking it. Iâve had the truck running to get it warmed up so itâs warm when I put him in his seat.
âDada!â I smile because it melts my heart every time he says it. Heâs my entire world and I wouldnât change him being in my life for anything. I would be lost if anything were to happen to him.
I can only imagine what Alanis and Eliot are going through right now. Iâd lose my mind if the roles were reversed. I shiver at the thought of anything happening to my son.
I may not have wanted a kid with a club girl, but the minute I saw Royal, everything fell into place.
Not enough to make his mom my olâ lady, but enough to want to help her get better for the sake of knowing this awesome boy. However, there isnât much I can do if she doesnât want to help herself.
âLetâs get going, little man. Weâve got a long day ahead of us.â I shut his door and climb into the driverâs seat.
He babbles his baby talk the whole way to the mayorâs house, leaving a permanent smile on my face.
There are so many babies popping up in the clubhouse and it warms my soul to see them all. My sister has the most out of all the women.
She may complain about being pregnant all the time, but I know she secretly loves it.
I didnât elaborate on why I wanted to see the mayor. I just rang him up and said Iâd swing by today to chat about a few things.
He didnât objectâhe never does. He and my dad were boot camp buddies. Mayor Borders didnât serve as many tours as my dad, but they remained friends after they both left the service.
Thatâs why we work so closely together. Plus, he knows weâve only done good for the community.
As I pull into his driveway, I take a moment to look at his house. Youâd think the mayor would live in some grand, opulent mansion. But not Mayor Borders.
He always cracks jokes that if heâd bought a bigger house, his wife would have had a fit. She never denies it, but we all know theyâre in it for the long haul. She wouldnât leave, and neither would he.
His house is a typical two-story home. Itâs white with gray shutters. The porch is enclosed and wraps around the entire house. They even have a balcony on the second floor that wraps around too.
Itâs not my style, but thatâs just me. Inside the porch, there are ceiling fans with lights, heated floors for the winter, and itâs surprisingly cozy when itâs chilly outside.
Iâm not sure how they managed that, but Iâll figure it out when I have more time.
I barely get Royal out of the truck when the front door swings open and Mrs. Borders is rushing toward us. âHand over that baby, young man! You havenât brought him to see me since you got him!â
The petite, round woman is not someone you want to cross. I guess thatâs why she fits in so well with the mom squad. I chuckle and let her take the squealing baby from my arms.
âSuch a darling boy. Looks just like you.â We walk toward the house while she coos over my son.
âWestyn! How are your folks enjoying their vacation?â Mayor Borders asks as we step inside the house.
âTheyâre having a blast from what they tell us. Who knows what theyâre really up to on this trip. Theyâve earned it though. As long as theyâre having fun, thatâs all that matters.â
We make a bit more small talk before the front door slams open and the most stunning girl Iâve ever seen runs through the room, crying.
I know sheâs the mayorâs daughter, but Iâve never seen her before. I usually visit in the mornings if we meet at his house. Otherwise, Iâm at his office in town.
âBrighton! Honey. Whatâs wrong?â Mrs. Borders asks. Brighton keeps running and Mrs. Borders chases after her with Royal still in her arms.
âSheâll be okay. Her mom will help her. High schoolâs been tough for her. She graduates in May, so sheâs looking forward to that. Letâs get down to business.â
I follow the mayor into his office and take a seat in front of his desk. âIâm not telling him yet. If thatâs why youâre here, then youâve wasted your time. Itâs not the right time for him to know.â
âThatâs not why Iâm here. But you do need to tell Ink before itâs too late. He deserves to know the truth,â I tell him.
There are some things Iâve discovered over the past few months about one of my brothers. Itâs not my place to tell, but I know that when Ink finds out, all hell is going to break loose.
âEliotâs daughter was kidnapped three days ago. Weâve tried everything.
âWeâre waiting for his ex-girlfriend to wake up to see if she can give us some answers, but it doesnât look promising. I was hoping you could help us out.â
âIâm sorry to hear that, son. I can only imagine how they must be feeling right now. Iâll do everything I can to help get her back. You know I will. I have since your dad and uncles started the BAMC.â
I nod. A weight lifts off my shoulders knowing heâll help.
He understands what theyâre going through because almost thirty years ago, he and Mrs. Borders lost their son to a kidnapping and never saw him again. Until recently, that is.
âThanks, Mr. Borders. I really appreciate this. Iâm out of ideas. Iâve got Kai looking into it as well. Alanis is losing it. She lost one of her babies and now her daughter two months later.
âShe and Eliot are at odds. Tension is high between them and I donât know what the fuck to do. Being President of the club is tough sometimes,â I blurt out.
âYour dad wouldnât have put you in charge if he didnât think you could handle it. Youâre doing a great job. Youâve expanded the club in ways your father only dreamed of. Youâve got this.
âYou just need to find a strong woman to keep you grounded. Your dad has that in your mom. The other men have that in their wives. I wouldnât be half the man I am today without my wife.
âYouâll get there, son. Keep your head up and youâll be just fine.â
I know heâs right, but itâs just hard sometimes. Especially at times like these.
âThanks, sir. I should probably get Royal and head back to the clubhouse. Who knows what the others are getting up to with me gone,â I joke. He chuckles as we both stand.
âNo problem. Iâll put some feelers out to see if I can find any information for you. Iâm not sure how much Iâll be able to do, but Iâll give it my best shot.â
He walks me out toward the kitchen. I glance over to the windows to see Brighton out on the porch with Royal. Damn, thatâs a sight if Iâve ever seen one.
âDonât even think about it. Sheâs still in high school,â I hear from behind me.
âSo, once sheâs done with school, I can make your daughter my girl?â I ask him.
âDamn. You havenât even met her and youâre already planning to make her your girl?â he fires back.
âI just know sheâs the one for me, just by looking at her. I can see what sheâs trying to hide.
âDonât worry, Iâll wait until sheâs done with school before moving her in with me. But until then, I plan to get to know her,â I assure the mayor.
He sighs deeply, understanding the way our world operates. Mrs. Borders is his girl. They fell in love at first sight.
âSheâs got a boyfriend. Donât go messing that up. If she wants to get to know you, thatâs a different story. Donât pressure my daughter.
âEven if you are the son of one of my good friends, I wonât hesitate to make your life a living hell if you hurt her,â he warns.
âYou donât need to worry about that. She wonât be with that boyfriend for long. I wonât force her to break up with him, but I will get to know her.â
I step out onto the porch, leaving the mayor without another word.
âThen, he looked straight at me and said it was all a joke. That no one would want to date a fat cow like me,â I overhear Brighton telling my son. My blood starts to boil, even though I donât fully understand whatâs happening.
âYouâre not a fat cow. Youâre damn beautiful and you shouldnât let any man talk to you like that.â
She lets out a surprised gasp and her cheeks turn a bright red. Her eyes are the most vibrant shade of gold Iâve ever seen. Iâm captivated. Sheâs the one for me. I can feel it in my bones.
âYou look good holding my son.â
