Married at First Sight

Chapter Seven

NOAH

When the band took a break, the couple went and sat down but were soon interrupted by another woman who knew Noah. She sat on the other side of him, placing her hand on his arm.

“Noah, it’s so good to see you again.”

“Jeanne, what are you doing here? I thought you moved to Switzerland.”

“I did, but when I heard you got married I had to come back and see for myself if it was true,” she said, looking over at Cora. “Are you not going to introduce me to your bride?”

Once he did, she shook Cora’s hand. “You must be one hell of a woman to trap this man into marriage. He always said he would never settle down with one woman. Tell me, what was your secret?”

Cora looked at the woman. Her hair was honey blonde and shoulder length. She was gorgeous, wearing a dress with a low-cut front and clinging to Noah as if she were the one married to him.

It made her angry, and it was her anger that made her blurt out the truth. “I have no secret. Our parents arranged it when I was born. They forced us to marry.”

The look on Jeanne’s face was priceless, but not the one on Noah’s. He was furious, and she knew she was in big trouble.

He glared at her angrily, then looked at Jeanne and started laughing. “You must excuse my wife. She has a weird sense of humor. The truth is the moment I laid eyes on her I knew she was the one for me.”

Jeanne looked at Cora, not finding anything funny. “You’re young, but being married into the Vaillant family, you should conduct yourself in a mature manner.

“I will leave the two of you alone,” she said, looking back at Noah. “I will be in town for a few days. Perhaps we can get together for a drink and talk about old times.”

Getting to his feet, he hugged her. “It was nice seeing you.” He waited until she walked away before sitting back down.

He turned to Cora in anger. “Why would you tell her that? What the hell is wrong with you?”

“I didn’t like the way she was looking down her nose at me. Sorry if I shocked one of your lovers, so why don’t you go run after her?

“She just might give you a quickie in the bathroom, or is she afraid of messing up her hair and makeup?”

Noah’s eyes sparkled with amusement when he looked at her. “Oh my, kitty has claws. Sounds to me like you’re jealous. I bet that right now you wish I would take you into the bathroom and fuck you.

“It’s about time for you to lose your virginity.” It took him by surprise when she slapped him hard across the face and walked away.

Rubbing the side of his face where she’d slapped him, he got up and followed her as she headed toward the exit. Catching up to her, he grabbed her arm to stop her from leaving.

“Cora, will you please stop?”

She shrugged his hand off of her. Putting her hand on his chest, she gave him a shove backward. “How dare you talk to me like that? I’m not one of your whores.”

“I know and I’m sorry. It’s just that you made me so mad when you told her about our arranged marriage. I don’t want anyone to know about it, only Barry.”

He reached up with one hand and wiped the tear that fell from her eye and rolled down her cheek. “Let’s go back inside.”

“I want to go home,” she said, lowering her eyes to the ground.

“We can’t leave yet, but if you come inside with me I promise we’ll leave in a couple of hours. If you’re worried about that woman, you don’t have to be. She’s nothing to me.”

She looked into his eyes and saw his sincerity. “You promise we can leave in a couple of hours?”

“I promise,” he said, taking her hand they walked back inside. “We’ll just mingle for a while and then we’ll say good night to my parents and leave.”

Later, when she excused herself to use the lady’s room, Barry went over to Noah, handing him a drink. “I met this woman, Sylvia, and we want to get together after the benefit.

“Would you mind taking a taxi home? Or perhaps you could get your father’s driver to take you.”

“Yeah, that’s no problem. You just go enjoy yourself and make sure to use protection.”

Barry chuckled. “I always do. Say, I saw Jeanne talking to you and Cora. I hope it went well, she can be a very vindictive bitch when she wants to be.

“I’m sure she wasn’t too happy to hear that you got married.”

“She was a little bit pissed off.”

“I can imagine, considering she was always trying to get you to marry her. If you want my advice, stay clear of that woman.”

“I can handle her,” Noah replied. He thought back to when he was dating her. They had only been going out for six weeks when she started hinting that she wanted to become his wife.

For one thing, he did not want to marry her or anyone else. Another reason was that he was already engaged to be married to another woman.

Sure, he could have run off and eloped with Jeanne and got out of marrying Cora. The truth was, she was the last woman he would ever marry.

CORA

Cora was in the lady’s room, standing in front of the mirror as she applied her lipstick, when who else walked in but Jeanne.

“Well, well, look who’s here, Mrs. Vaillant. You sure did snag yourself a wealthy bachelor. But you really are not his type, so I have to wonder how long it will take him before he gets bored with you.

“Do yourself a favor and end it before he does. You might be young, but you can’t keep a man like him satisfied forever.”

Cora turned around to face her. “You couldn’t be more wrong. It just so happens that I am the only child of Adonis Thanos, owner of Thanos Winery.

“I’m sure you’ve heard of it. So you see, someday I will inherit everything, so I do not need my husband’s money.

“But looking at you, with your fake boobs and your bleached-blonde hair, I’m sure you would love to get your hands on my husband and his money.

“Well, you can forget it, he wouldn’t want anything to do with the likes of you.”

“You bitch, that’s how much you know. We were lovers before you came along and I know that all I have to do is snap my fingers and I can have him back in my bed.”

“I sincerely doubt that, but I’m not going to stand here and argue with you.” When she went to walk away, she felt Jeanne’s hand on her back. Jeanne shoved her.

Landing on the floor, Cora looked up at her, fuming. Getting to her feet, Cora charged at Jeanne. The two started fighting, but Cora had the upper hand since she was trained in self-defense.

Somebody heard the ruckus and went and told Noah what was going on. When he got to the ladies’ room and opened the door, he saw the two women rolling around on the ground.

Going over to Cora, he pulled her off of Jeanne, his arms around her waist to hold her back. “Cora, stop acting like a wild animal.”

“Noah, thank God you got here. She attacked me for no reason at all. Your wife has serious mental problems.”

“You lying bitch,” Cora shouted back.

Just then, Noah’s parents showed up. They took one look at the scene and were utterly disgusted and angry.

“Noah, I think you should take your wife home now. Go out the back way so no one can see you. I’ll have my driver take you home.”

Noah nodded his head, taking ahold of Cora’s arm, he led her out through the back way.

“I can’t believe you embarrassed me in front of everybody and my parents. For someone who comes from a wealthy family, you act like some kind of trash off the streets.”

Cora took a tissue from her purse and wiped the tears that were falling from her eyes when they got inside the limousine. “She started it.”

“Now you sound like a kid,” he snapped back at her. But at seeing her cry, his heart softened. “I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to yell at you. But you really shouldn’t have behaved like that.”

“She said some horrible things and when I went to leave, she pushed me and made me fall to the ground. That’s when we started fighting.”

“What did she say to you?”

After Cora told him everything, he sat back and ran his fingers through his hair. “Listen, I did date her for a while. She wanted me to marry her and when I wouldn’t, she got angry.”

“Did you want to marry her? Were you in love with her?”

“No to both of those questions. I was never in love with her. Even if I wasn’t forced into marrying you, I still wouldn’t have married her.

“As far as her snapping her fingers and having me run back to her bed, it’s never going to happen. I know we’re not having sex, but we’re still married.

“For whatever reason, I couldn’t bring myself to cheat on you.”

Hearing him say this did make Cora feel better. “I’m really sorry for my behavior tonight. I know she was just baiting me into fighting with her.

“I should have just walked away. Your parents must hate me and they’ll never have me back in their home.”

He turned to look at her, putting his arm around her shoulder. He touched her cheek with the backs of his fingers. “I wouldn’t worry about them, and it’s me who should apologize to you.

“I should have told you about Jeanne and warned you what she was like. I really like this dress on you, and I’m so glad it didn’t get ruined when you were fighting.”

“I was hoping you would like this dress. I wanted to make you proud to be seen with me.”

“Any man would be proud to be seen with you, no matter what you are wearing. I especially like the slit that goes up, showing off your slender leg.

“It’s very sexy,” he said, placing his hand on her thigh where the material separated.

It felt like her heart was going to burst right out of her chest when she felt his hand on her leg. It was a soft touch, his thumb moving back and forth over her skin.

She looked at his face. He was so handsome and rugged-looking with his facial hair and his dark-blue eyes.

She had closed her legs tighter but felt sexually aroused when he put his hand between them, pushing them apart as he moved his hand up her leg.

She closed her eyes when she felt his fingers slipping under her panties. She started breathing heavily when his hand was inside, rubbing and adding pressure on her pussy.

It felt like she was wetting her panties. She wasn’t sure if that was normal or not and felt a little embarrassed. “Noah,” she said in a soft and weak voice.

She felt his warm breath fanning her face and was sure he was going to kiss her. She knew without a doubt she would let him.

But when he didn’t and removed his hand from inside her panties, she opened her eyes and looked at him, disappointed. She couldn’t find her voice to ask him why he stopped.

Was it something she did or said? Or was he just not attracted to her?

NOAH

When he’d placed his hand on her leg and moved up, he wanted to keep going, especially when he touched her, feeling the dampness.

Stopping what he was doing was one of the hardest things he’d ever had to do.

He moved away from her and stared out the window, realizing how close he had come to making love to her in the back of the limousine.

But she was a virgin, and it wouldn’t be right to do it for the first time in the back of a vehicle with the driver up front, even though the window was rolled up, giving them as much privacy as they needed.

He couldn’t do that to her, and it would only give her hope of a future together.

When they got home and went into the house, she headed upstairs. But when she realized he wasn’t following her, she stopped and turned around. “Are you not coming to bed?”

“No, you go on up and I’ll come up later.” He saw the hurt in her eyes and felt bad, but he was in desperate need of a drink.

Going into the living room, he poured himself a double scotch and sat down to drink it, thinking about what had happened.

He wanted out of this marriage, and the only way to do that was if she wanted out, too.

He knew there would come a time when she would want sex, and if he denied her, she would get fed up and leave. The problem was, how long could he deny her and himself?

After all, he was a man and had needs, and she was his wife. But he had to control himself.

He would wait until he knew she was asleep and then take a cold shower before getting into bed. Hopefully, he would be gone in the morning before she woke up.
