Anna squinted at the closed office door, wondering what the hell was taking so long. She’d been summoned for this meeting over an hour ago, but her parents had stormed in first, slamming the door in her face. The whole situation was unusual, especially when the alpha preferred to pretend she didn’t exist, which made it unpredictable and panic swelled. She beat it back down, refusing to give into the dark shadows that would drag her down. There was nothing good coming out of this summons, but she wouldn’t let them see her fear. Instead, she forced her emotions down–deep, deep-down and locked them away, leaving her expression a blank mask of indifference.
